Other distinguishing features: Lothi has green skin, long ears, like a lagamorph (rabbit-type) or equid (horse-type), a broad and flat nose more bovine (cow-like) in appearance, but an otherwise somewhat humanoid face.
He has two fingers plus an opposable thumb on each hand. His feet were not shown, but he has a plantigrade stance, like a human (tarsus/ankle flat on the ground).
His dentition is also closer to humanoid than lagamorph or equid.

History:
(S.W.O.R.D. I#1 (fb) - BTS) - Lothi is the half-brother of Abigail Brand. Their relationship was not a pleasant one.lothi-brand-brother-sword2-tinas

(S.W.O.R.D. I#1 (fb) - BTS / S.W.O.R.D. I#2 (fb) - BTS) - Lothi was hired by an unidentified race -- losers of a very old war on Tinas IV -- for "an enormous amount of money" to obtain a "bauble of import" ("Imperial family knick-knack. You know the sort of thing.") from Tinas IV.

(S.W.O.R.D. I#2 (fb)) - Taking a job on Tinas IV, Lothi sneaked off the device.

(S.W.O.R.D. I#2 (fb) - BTS) - Lothi's theft was detected by the victors of the old war on Tinas IV (who kept the world as an unliving memorial, where people could visit and study, but nothing could leave).

(S.W.O.R.D. I#1 (fb) - BTS / S.W.O.R.D. I#2 (fb) - BTS) - The soon-to-be-freelance-peacekeeping-agent Death's Head was hired to kill Lothi and to return the stolen artifact.

(S.W.O.R.D. I#1 (fb) - BTS) - Fleeing from Death's Head, Lothi approached SWORD's Peak station and requested sanctuary.

(S.W.O.R.D. I#1 - BTS) - Abigail was pulled out a diplomatic meeting with the Drenx in order to deal with Lothi, and she put Sydren in charge of keeping the Drenx entertained until her return.

lothi-brand-brother-sword1-manacled(S.W.O.R.D. I#1) - Abigail told the manacled Lothi that she loathed him, and when he began to apologize, she told him to beg and whine later but to explain now: She further instructed to give the short version, as if she detected even a hint of his usual B.S. she would just hand him over.

Lothi told her that he had been on a legitimate dig and then found the big metal goon on his tail, claiming he (Lothi) had stolen a priceless artifact. After he repeated assured Brand that he didn't have the artifact, she sent a SWORD search team into his ship and then had a communication opened to Death's Head. Admitting he did not have proof and that he was merely a businessman, Death's Head offered to cut her in, and Lothi was distraught when she asked how much. Beast told Lothi that Brand was most likely joking, but regardless, she declined the 10% offer and told Death's Head that if Lothi had the artifact they would get it to him, but that they would take him out if he went after Lothi. Death's Head feigned acceptance of this offer and departed.

After Brand and the Beast led him back to his room, Lothi apologized again, and Brand warned him that if she found that he had the artifact, she was going to make Lothi into Professor Xavier's Christmas wig. As Lothi's query, she introduced the Beast as her boyfriend, and Lothi told her that she had done well for herself and that he was proud of her. Thanking her again, he entered his room.

(S.W.O.R.D. I#1 - BTS) - Death's Head cut a hole in the Peak into Lothi's room, pulled him into his ship, and departed, his speed and stealth technology inhibiting tracking.

(S.W.O.R.D. I#2 (fb) - BTS) - Death's Head imprisoned Lothi in a sound-impermeable containment cell.

(S.W.O.R.D. I#1 - BTS) - Unit provided Brand with the information to penetrate Death's Head's stealth field.

Brand, Beast, and Lockjaw caught up to Death's Head's ship in the Falchion One, SWORD's flagship, further traveled to close vicinity via the Stiletto Zero ship, and they entered his ship in a boarding torpedo via the information provided by Unit, after which Death's Head confronted them.

(S.W.O.R.D. I#2) - As Beast engaged Death's Head, Brand located Lothi and freed him, although she noted that breaking him out of anything sound-impermeable went against every instinct she possessed.

Not having a means to otherwise return to their ship, Beast gave Lothi, Brand, and Lockjaw some sort of gelatin capsules (or something; they rapidly expanded to protect the user from cold, provide oxygen, and perhaps allow communication in space (or perhaps the latter was just part of their other tech equipment)) and then goaded Death's Head into firing at him with a blaster that penetrated his ship's hull. After Beast, Brand, Lockjaw, and Lothi had been pulled out through the hole via explosive decompression, the quartet activated their fields. Brand asked if everyone was in one piece, but when Lothi started to answer, Brand cut him off, noting that she was only speaking to people whose welfare about which she gave a damn. Brand then contacted the Stiletto (see comments), requesting immediate pick-up.lothi-brand-brother-sword2-challenged

(S.W.O.R.D. I#2 (fb) - BTS) - The Stiletto presumably picked them up and returned them to the Falchion One.

(S.W.O.R.D. I#2) - As they removed their protective gelatinous coverings, Death's Head hailed them again, but Brand told him that they could locate him despite his stealth fields if he moved, so he had no hope of pulling off a further extraction caper. After Death's Head noted that he was paid by the day and could wait, Brand cut the transmission and instructed Lothi to give him what he wanted. Lothi again denied having it, and Brand, not trusting Lothi at all, resolved that she needed a psychic. As Sydren was occupied, she resolved to use Unit.

Back on the Peak, Brand brought Lothi to Unit, who pleasantly greeted him. When Brand told Unit that Lothi said he didn't have "some kind of alien artifact," Unit wondered why he would claim such a thing as the artifact was in a "bespoke smuggling cavity" in Lothi's abdomen (see comments). Lothi claimed that Unit was lying, but Brand put her gun to Lothi's head and noted that while Unit was a machine created solely for the purpose of lying, she trusted Unit more than she trusted Lothi.

When Lothi told Brand that he could explain, she told him, "And I can shoot you through the head...let's see who can manage it first."lothi-brand-brother-sword2-bsc

After Lothi detailed the nature of the theft and produced the artifact, Brand offered Death's Head the artifact in exchange for ignoring the debts caused by damage to each other's spacecraft and letting Lothi go, and Death's Head accepted. Brand gave the artifact to Beast and told him to get it to Death's Head.

Beast and Brand later posed for a picture for Lothi, after which Brand instructed him to get the Hell out of her space-station and her solar system. Lothi thanked her and noted that he knew he could be a "pain in the bu--" but Brand cut him off, noting that she had billed him for all the SWORD expenses on this total waste of time. She further advised him that the next time he passed this way that he should bring enough money to settle up, or she would toss him in the brig and throw away the key...and the life-support.

Lothi told Brand that she remained a total bitch, and she replied, "Believe it. See you around, 'bro'"

(S.W.O.R.D. I#2 - BTS) - Beast asked Brand if all of her family was as irksome, and Brand noted that Lothi was so bad, as the fact that he existed stopped her from being the black sheep of the family.

Comments: Created by Kierron Gillen, Steven Sanders, and Craig Yeung.

Yes, obviously the bespoke smuggling cavity was being extracted from Lothi's thorax, rather than his abdomen. I'm sure Unit had his facts correct, but perhaps the artist was more confused...or, perhaps if the artifact could be phased, Lothi just removed it superiolaterally (upwards as he was pulling it to the outside).

Ships used to rescue/return Lothi

In S.W.O.R.D. #1 (2010), Beast, Brand, and Lockheed go to rescue Brand's half-brother, Lothi, in the Falchion-One (SWORD flagship). And then they apparently leave that ship in the Stiletto Zero (SWORD high-performance interceptor)...and then they enter Death's Head's ship via a "boarding torpedo."
When they are ready to head out in SWORD #2, they can't leave (because the torpedo is a one-way trip...WTF was their exit plan), so Beast tosses some sort of force field device to his allies and then goads Death's Head into blasting a hole through his ship, and they're pulled out into space via explosive decompression, after which they activate their force fields.
Then Brand sends a message to Stiletto One that they require immediate pick-up.
I'm not sure exactly what's going on, but Brand seems to have conflated the names for Falchion-One and Stiletto Zero.
They are next shown back on the Peak, but does anyone have any more information on the names of these crafts?
As crew on the Stiletto Zero responded to her instruction to launch the boarding torpedo, I would think she was calling the Stiletto Zero, which would have brought them back to the Falchion-One, which would have brought them back to the Peak?
