History:
(U.S. Avengers I#11 (fb) - BTS) - Kral X was a planet in the Andromeda Galaxy.

(U.S. Avengers I#12 (fb)) - During Kral X's early days as a small Skrull colony in the Kral system, a system of Skrull planets in which the residents modeled themselves on Earth culture seen in movies, the planet was ruled by a Skrull calling himself Don Scarpone and modeling his life after old-time American gangsters. Scarpone's son became the Don's right hand man and was often sent out on space on missions to retrieve other Earth signals with movies to emulate and barter. During one mission, Scarpone's son received a fifty-year old signal from Earth's The Ritchie Redwood Show television program and became enamored by its seeming perfection. After Scarpone's son showed the program to his brother, Redwoodism swept through Kral X, both by persuasion and by force as Scarpone's son used the local military to enforce Redwoodism. When Power Skrulls were assigned to Kral X following the Skrulls' botched secret invasion of Earth, Scarpone's two sons utilized the Power Skrulls to take over Kral X, forcing Don Scarpone and his loyalists into exile. The sons of Scarpone then took over the colony themselves and changed the name of the planet to Glenbrook, their own little piece of Redwoodism America. For a time, things were perfect in Glenbrook.

(U.S. Avengers I#11 (fb) - BTS) - Scarpone's son assumed the identity of Ritchie Redwood with his brother as Bugface Brown.

(U.S. Avengers I#12 (fb)) - One day, after being gone for weeks, Bugface Brown returned to Glenbrook and Redwood chided him, claiming he was about to recast Bugface Brown, as they still had loyal Skrulls without characters to assume. Bugface assured Redwood that he had left to find more signals and while gone, he flew closer to Earth, where he picked up The Ritchie Redwood Show television signals from thirty years after the show Redwood himself had received was canceled. The excited Bugface then explained that Earth had continuously brought back The Ritchie Redwood Show over a period of decades and there were hundreds of new episodes that neither of them had seen. Bugface then showed Ritchie an image of the TV show's April Flowers character, who acted as a third love interest for the fictional Redwood, but the Skrull Redwood began to get overwhelmed by all of the modern character development. When Redwood suggested they slow things down and keep their culture more like the classic television show, Bugface pointed out that the show itself was always moving forward and progressing. Redwood attempted to accept the new changes to their culture, even allowing some of the other Skrulls to assume the identities of later characters, but when Bugface Brown began breaking character by walking around town in his Skrull form, Redwood confronted him. Bugface admitted he always felt happier in his true form and suggested perhaps it could be some new story they made up where the fictional Bugface Brown was a space alien or a futuristic time cop but Redwood protested, claiming it was not in The Ritchie Redwood Show continuity to have Glenbrook be involved with aliens. Bugface replied that he just wanted to see more of himself in Glenbrook and that the idea of living there and adopting Earth culture was supposed to be fun.

When Bugface remarked that the Skrull Redwood was not the final arbiter of Redwoodism, the two decided to go to war. During the ensuing culture war, Bugface led his so-called Time Cops against Redwood and the Skrull May was killed by the Power Skrull Mr. Waspwind. Redwood's Power Skrulls ultimately overwhelmed Bugface Brown and his Time Cops.

(U.S. Avengers I#11 (fb) - BTS / U.S. Avengers I#12 (fb) - BTS) - Unable to bring himself to kill his own brother, Redwood instead imprisoned Bugface and the remaining subversives inside Sabine the Teen Sorceress' haunted castle.

(U.S. Avengers I#12 (fb) - BTS) - Bugface and the other captives were left without food or water and more died.

(U.S. Avengers I#11 (fb) - BTS) - Over time, even Don Scarpone's gangsters opted to stay away from Glenbrook, feeling as if Redwood had become cold-hearted and insane.

(U.S. Avengers I#9) - After noticing and acquiring the Earth superhuman Cannonball from an alien slave trader, a Glenbrook Skrull using the identity of Howard Mason brought Cannonball to Glenbrook. At first thinking Mason had returned him to Earth, Cannonball remarked in surprise that Mason had brought him back to Earth but Mason chuckled and commented that Cannonball was instead in the happiest little town America ever knew, further asking what made Cannonball think he was on Earth.

(U.S. Avengers I#11) - Cannonball questioned if Mason was saying they were in outer space and Mason replied in the affirmative, further revealing that they were in the Andromeda Galaxy to be precise. He then welcomed Cannonball to Glenbrook, his proposed new home. Cannonball soon asked if his handcuffs could be removed and Mason obliged, commenting that he had promised Cannonball a career in education and he couldn't very well teach in shackles. Mason continued, remarking that it would best for Cannonball to roam free so that everyone could get a good look at him, how he moved, how he stood, how he ate and even how he talked, as Mason found Cannonball's accent fascinating. When Mason mentioned that Glenbrook's residents had a lot to learn from a 100% real Earth-grown American human, Ritchie Redwood walked up, claiming that they were human and that they were in America. Mason immediately lowered himself into a begging pose and referred to Redwood as "your majesty," prompting Redwood to quietly demand Mason get back into character under threat that Redwood would do to Mason what he had done to Bugface Brown.

Shocked, Mason quickly jumped into character and immediately became antagonistic towards Redwood, asking what he was doing around there and whether Redwood was "sniffing around his daughter." When Mason claimed he had his eye on the "good for nothing gadabout" Redwood, Redwood muttered "pathetic" before going into character himself, commenting that he only wished to welcome the new face to town and whispering that Mason had not consulted him before bringing Cannonball into Glenbrook in the first place. Redwood then stuck out his hand to shake and introduced himself as Glenbrook's typical teenager, prompting Cannonball to ask what the heck was going on.

Once properly dressed for teaching, Cannonball was informed by Ritchie Redwood that he would be the new geography teacher from out of town and there wouldn't be any problems as long as Cannonball remembered that. Admitting that he had been patient enough, Cannonball asked Redwood where exactly he was but Redwood only replied that he was in Glenbrook, America's typical little town where every day was like every other perfect day of the rest of their lives. Cannonball began to question Redwood's statement but they were interrupted by the arrival of Mason's supposed daughter Vanessa and Redwood's friends. When Vanessa expressed excitement for the specimen her father found, she was quickly reminded that she needed to stay in character and that Vanessa wasn't supposed to know who Cannonball was. Vanessa immediately apologized to her "liege" and Redwood gave her a stern, threatening look before his friends attempted to change the subject back to the task at hand. Gerry Mays introduced himself to Cannonball and when Gerry asked Cannonball where he was from, Cannonball at first said "Earth" and Gerry played off the answer as a joke, claiming they were all from Earth. Gerry then asked where specifically and upon hearing Cannonball say "Kentucky," Gerry attempted to imitate Cannonball's southern accent and remarked that it sounded like a swell place before nervously asking Cannonball to help him by letting him know if "Kann-tuckee" was a town. Cannonball suspiciously explained that Kentucky was a state and corrected Gerry's pronunciation of the name, at which point Biff Bison imitated Cannonball's proper pronunciation. Even more suspicious than before, Cannonball asked if Biff was mocking him and Vanessa blurted out that they had to learn human behavior somehow. She then went on about how the old "episodes" only showed them so much before her friend Becky again reminded her to stay in character. A frustrated Redwood then reminded Vanessa that while she was in a privileged position as a vital part of the Glenbrook narrative, she could be replaced, and Vanessa insisted that she had merely slipped up and that both Becky and herself were not subversives like Bugface Brown.

When Redwood assured them all that Cannonball would be their new geography teacher at Glenbrook High and they could study his mannerisms in class since Cannonball would be there until he died, Cannonball interjected, explaining that he had a family to get back to and that he would not be spending the rest of his life in whatever hell Glenbrook actually was. Redwood warned Cannonball against leaving, reminding him that he had been bought and sold as property, but Cannonball responded by flying off. Surprised that Cannonball had superhuman powers but also annoyed that the narrative was ruined, Redwood ordered Biff to recapture Cannonball, adding that he should make it hurt. Unaware that his U.S. Avengers teammates were battling gangster Skrulls as they attempted to track and rescue him, Cannonball deduced that he needed to find a spaceship before he was confronted by a flying Biff Bison in his Power Skrull form. Quickly knocked unconscious and captured, Cannonball was placed in Sabine the Teen Sorceress' haunted castle, where he met fellow prisoner Bugface Brown, a Skrull in his true form. Bugface apologized for startling Cannonball but Cannonball admitted that seeing Bugface's Skrull face explained a lot of what he didn't understand about Glenbrook.

(U.S. Avengers I#12) - While Bugface Brown revealed the history of Kral X/Glenbrook to the imprisoned Cannonball, Ritchie Redwood chewed out Gerry Mays for suggesting that they check Cannonball for Shi'ar tech implants, warning that Gerry could also be imprisoned as a subversive. The other Skrulls in human identities agreed with Gerry but Redwood remained blinded by his desire to keep the entire planet in-character for The Ritchie Redwood Show's status quo. During a rant about how Glenbrook was supposed to be a simpler time without high technology and modern civilization, Redwood noticed a Shi'ar craft in a landing pattern on Glenbrook. As Redwood had the Power Skrull Mr. Waspwind summoned, Cannonball disabled the gravity ball attached to his leg using a master key pickpocketed earlier from Howard Mason as well as the Hyperwave generators preventing Bugface Brown and his allies from shapeshifting.

When the U.S. Avengers arrived on Glenbrook to rescue Cannonball, Redwood unleashed his two Power Skrulls against them. The U.S. Avengers easily took out the two Power Skrulls and when Redwood himself attempted to shapeshift to deal with the U.S. Avengers, he found he could not thanks to the arrival of Cannonball and Bugface Brown's crew and the Hyperwave generators they had brought from the castle. Cannonball then announced that Redwood would be going to jail and Redwood angrily accused Brown and his friends of being traitors, exclaiming that everything had been perfect. When he announced that Bugface and his friends didn't belong in the perfect Glenbrook, Bugface only remarked that, after all of Redwood's talk of staying in character, that statement was just not something the fictional Ritchie Redwood would say. Redwood and his agents were then arrested and placed in a ship to face justice on the Skrull gangster planet. With Redwood in custody, Glenbrook was turned over to Bugface Brown.

(Empyre I#3 (fb) - BTS) - Glenbrook and other planets of the Kral system were overtaken by seeds from the extraterrestrial Cotati that caused destructive, out of control plant growth that threatened to destroy the system (see comments).

(Guardians of the Galaxy V Annual#1/2) - Publicly claiming the colony planets of the Kral system (including Glenbrook) were subversives in love with enemy culture, the Skrull High Command opted to "clean up" the Kral system.

(Guardians of the Galaxy V Annual#1/2/Empyre I#3 (fb) - BTS) - Pulling out of the Pan-Worlds Treaty with other planets, the Skrull High Command sent the Super-Skrull, then-leader of the Skrull Empire, on a classified mission to activate the Pyre weapon to destroy Glenbrook and the rest of the Kral system. Once in the Kral system, the Super-Skrull felt the planets of the Kral system were already dead or would be within the hour thanks to the Cotati infections so he activated the Pyre, causing a nearby star to build up energy until it detonated, completely destroying the planets of the Kral system, including Glenbrook.

(Guardians of the Galaxy V Annual#1/2) - Barely escaping the destruction Kral IV with his life by absorbing the heat and radiation to power his armor's shielding, Nova (Richard Rider) reported that some Skrulls had already evacuated in the ten minutes prior to the Kral system's destruction, including Bugface Brown, Prince Dezan, Boss Barker and his men. Nova reported that perhaps a total of ten thousand survived the destruction of Glenbrook and the other Kral system planets.

(Empyre I#3 - BTS) - When confronted with the possibility of the Pyre being used again on Earth, the Super-Skrull admitted his involvement in destroying the Kral system, remarking that he had no choice and that billions of people were sacrificed to save trillions more.

HUGE thanks to Loki for catching the mention of Bugface Brown and the destruction of Glenbrook and the other Kral planets!! He had this to share about the issue and the conflicting reasons for the destruction listed in that annual and Empyre#3:
    "
We saw the Kral system's destruction earlier than Empyre, in Guardians of the Galaxy Annual #1 (2019), where the reason given for the Skrull High Command destroying it was because the locals were considered subversives and degenerates (presumably a cover story, with the Skrulls not wanting to let info about the Cotati Death Blossom weapon to get out into the public domain). Kl'rt described the Kral residents as "artists and dreamers," making them sound valued, the opposite of how the High Command described them to justify destroying the system. Both could be true (Kl'rt valued them, but no one else in High Command did), or one or other a lie (Kl'rt lying to make the Skrulls seem less evil to his allies helping fight the Cotati, or the High Command because of the aforementioned cover-up theory)."

The claim that Kral X learned about human culture by picking up old TV broadcasts makes little sense - the Kral system is in the Andromeda Galaxy, which is roughly 2.5 million light years away from the Milky Way. Without some space warps or ftl relay shenanigans somewhere, there's no way they should be picking up broadcasts from Earth that are only fifty years old! - Loki

CLARIFICATIONS:
Glenbrook/Kral X has no known connections to:

Becky

Becky was a Skrull who adopted the identity of the fictional Becky character from Earth's The Ritchie Redwood Show. Loyal to the Skrull using the Ritchie Redwood identity, mostly out of fear, Becky constantly had to remind her friend Vanessa Mason to stay in-character or risk making Redwood angry.

--U.S. Avengers I#11 (#12 (fb), #11-12,

Biff Bison

The Skrull who adopted the identity of Biff Bison was originally a Power Skrull that was reassigned following the botched secret Skrull invasion of Earth. After adopting the Biff identity, the Skrull remained loyal to the Skrull who became Ritchie Redwood and often acted as his enforcer when needed. When the captured Cannonball attempted escape, Redwood ordered Biff to recapture Cannonball and to make it hurt. Biff succeeded in knocking Cannonball unconscious and the Earth hero was imprisoned with others who disagreed with Redwood. Later, when Cannonball's U.S. Avengers teammates arrived on Glenbrook to rescue Cannonball, Redwood ordered both Biff and a Power Skrull posing as teacher Mr. Waspwind to attack the U.S. Avengers, who made quick work of the two Power Skrulls. Following Redwood's defeat, Biff was taken into custody alongside Redwood and Waspwind.

--U.S. Avengers I#11 (#12 (fb), #11-12,

Bugface Brown

The Skrull who later adopted the identity of Bugface Brown was the son of Skrull Don Scarpone, who modeled his life after old-time American gangsters. Upon learning of the existence of The Ritchie Redwood Show via decades-old Earth television signals, the Skrull became infatuated with the TV series' culture alongside his brother and the two helped overthrow and exile their father in an effort to transform the Skrull colony Kral X into a version of the fictional Glenbrook town seen on The Ritchie Redwood Show. Adopting the identity of the fictional Bugface Brown while his brother became Ritchie Redwood, the Skrull lived happily in the newly-dubbed Glenbrook for a time, eventually leaving for a few weeks and returning with new Earth television signals that showed how The Ritchie Redwood Show had been restarted numerous times since the television signals the Skrulls had originally found. Bugface wished to progress Glenbrook to mirror all of the succeeding TV series episodes and Redwood reluctantly agreed to do so. Bugface eventually became so comfortable in the Glenbrook atmosphere that he began breaking character and walking around town in his Skrull form, angering Ritchie Redwood, who was obsessive about keeping up the TV show narrative. The two brothers eventually warred over which direction Glenbrook should move and Bugface was defeated and imprisoned without food or water alongside those who had sided with him. Some time later, the Earth hero Cannonball was also imprisoned and learned of Glenbrook's story from Bugface. With Cannonball's help, Bugface and his friends were freed and helped defeat Ritchie Redwood, at which point Bugface assumed the role of Glenbrook's ruler. Some time later, Glenbrook became overrun with destructive plant life thanks to alien Cotati Death Blossoms and the Skrull High Command decided to destroy the entire Kral system, claiming the residents were subversives in love with an enemy culture. Ten minutes prior to Glenbrook's destruction, Bugface Brown and possibly other Glenbrook residents managed to evacuate. While only Brown was confirmed evacuated, the heroic Nova (Richard Rider) later reported that a total of ten thousand Skrulls survived the Kral system's destruction.

The Skrull who became Pappy Guggenheim was tasked with running one of the local malt shoppes in Glenbrook. He often stood around cleaning while Ritchie Redwood and his allies met in the malt shoppe to discuss various matters.

--U.S. Avengers I#12

Glenbrook High

Glenbrook High was a high school located in Glenbrook in which Ritchie Redwood and his friends went as part of their narrative of being All-American teenagers. The Power Skrull who became Mr. Waspwind was a teacher at Glenbrook High. When the Earth hero Cannonball was purchased against his will from an alien slave trader, the Skrull who had adopted the identity of Howard Mason brought Cannonball back to Glenbrook to become the new geography teacher at Glenbrook High.

--U.S. Avengers I#11 - BTS (#12 - BTS,

Keith

The Skrull who became Keith was a friend of the Skrull who became Bugface Brown and he aided in Bugface's attempted coup against the rule of the Skrull who became Ritchie Redwood, only to find himself imprisoned when they were defeated by Ritchie Redwood and his Power Skrulls. When the Earth hero Cannonball was later imprisoned, he helped Keith, Bugface and their allies escape and defeat Redwood.

--U.S. Avengers I#11 (#12,

Howard Mason

The Skrull who adopted the identity of Howard Mason played the role of father to the Skrull who became Veronica Mason as part of The Ritchie Redwood Show narrative enforced by the Skrull who assumed the identity of Ritchie Redwood. While seeking a new teacher for Glenbrook High, Howard traveled to an alien slave trade market, where he purchased the Earth hero Cannonball despite not informing Ritchie Redwood in advance and brought him back to Glenbrook. Once on Glenbrook, Howard freed Cannonball and explained that Cannonball would be assuming the role of geography teacher in town. When Ritchie Redwood showed up, a nervous Howard broke character and was belittled by Redwood for doing so. At some point, Cannonball pickpocketed Howard and stole a master key for the shackles and imprisonment devices used by Ritchie Redwood.

--U.S. Avengers I#9 (#11, #12 - BTS,

Vanessa Mason

The Skrull who adopted the identity of Vanessa Mason was loyal to the Skrull who assumed the identity of Ritchie Redwood, mostly out of fear. Despite trying to keep up the narrative seen in The Ritchie Redwood Show, Vanessa often completely forgot to act in-character and would often say something Skrull-like or allude to her true alien nature before her friend Becky would correct and remind her about staying in-character. When Vanessa broke character around Ritchie Redwood, she was met with angry glares and even threats.

--U.S. Avengers I#11 (#12,

May

The Skrull who became May was a friend of the Skrull who became Bugface Brown and she aided in Bugface's attempted coup against the rule of the Skrull who became Ritchie Redwood, only to be killed in battle against Ritchie Redwood's Power Skrulls.

--U.S. Avengers I#12 (fb)

Gerry Mays

The Skrull who adopted the identity of Gerry Mays was loyal to the Skrull who assumed the role of Ritchie Redwood, albeit mostly out of fear. Filling in the role of fellow student and friend to Ritchie, Gerry saw how Ritchie had imprisoned those who spoke out against Ritchie's decisions, leaving him somewhat nervous any time he was around Ritchie. When Ritchie first met the Earth hero Cannonball, who had been purchased against his will and brought to Glenbrook to be forced into the role of geography teacher, Gerry, Becky, Biff and Vanessa walked up to meet Cannonball as well. When Vanessa broke character and was threatened by Ritchie, Gerry quickly changed the subject and introduced himself to Cannonball. Later, Gerry questioned Ritchie's strict adherence to not breaking character by suggesting Ritchie check Cannonball for signs of Shi'ar tech implants but Ritchie ignored Gerry's suggestions in favor of staying in character. Gerry subsequently pointed out a Shi'ar vessel as it landed on Glenbrook.

--U.S. Avengers I#11 (#12,

Nina

The Skrull who became Nina was a friend of the Skrull who became Bugface Brown and she aided in Bugface's attempted coup against the rule of the Skrull who became Ritchie Redwood, only to find herself imprisoned when they were defeated by Ritchie Redwood and his Power Skrulls. When the Earth hero Cannonball was later imprisoned, he helped Nina, Bugface and their allies escape and defeat Redwood.

Ritchie Redwood

The Skrull who later adopted the identity of Ritchie Redwood was born the son of Skrull Don Scarpone, who modeled his life on old-time American gangsters. As he grew, Scarpone's son became Scarpone's right hand man and was often sent into space to search for American broadcast signals that could be emulated and traded. One day, he found a fifty-year-old broadcast signal of the American television show The Ritchie Redwood Show and he became infatuated with the show's humor and American teen culture. Adopting the lifestyle of the show, the Skrull introduced Redwoodism to his brother and the two ultimately overthrew and exiled their father, transforming the Skrull colony Kral X into the "American" town of Glenbrook. Assuming the role of Ritchie Redwood, the Skrull later learned from his brother that The Ritchie Redwood Show had been restarted numerous times over the span of decades and his brother, who had assumed the role of Bugface Brown, wished to bring some of the later TV show ideas into Glenbrook. Reluctantly going along with Bugface's suggestions, Ritchie became obsessed with everyone on Glenbrook keeping the narrative from the TV show going in real life and when Bugface Brown began going around town in his Skrull form, Ritchie confronted him about his desire to stick to the classic Ritchie Redwood culture and the two ultimately went to war over the clash of cultures. Redwood managed to defeat Bugface thanks to the two Power Skrulls in his service and he imprisoned Bugface and his friends as subversives. Later, when Earth hero Cannonball was brought to Glenbrook to be forced into the role of geography teacher, Ritchie tried to give Cannonball the ropes on staying in character but Cannonball refused and attempted to flee, only to be recaptured by the Power Skrull Biff on Ritchie's orders. Imprisoning Cannonball as well, Ritchie was later confronted by the U.S. Avengers, who had come to rescue Cannonball, and Ritchie unleashed the Power Skrulls against the team. The Power Skrulls were easily defeated and Ritchie himself was defeated as well by the escaped Cannonball, Bugface Brown and his friends using Hyperwave generators. He was then arrested and sent to one of the gangster planets of the Kral system to face justice while Bugface Brown took over ruling Glenbrook.

--U.S. Avengers I#11 (#12 (fb), #11-12,

Sabine the Teen Sorceress

The Skrull who became Sabine the Teen Sorceress was a friend of the Skrull who became Bugface Brown, although the Skrull who assumed the role of Ritchie Redwood wasn't especially fond of the identity of Sabine and wished to only have her around during Halloween. Sabine ultimately aided in Bugface's attempted coup against the rule of Ritchie Redwood, only to find herself imprisoned when they were defeated by Ritchie Redwood and his Power Skrulls. When the Earth hero Cannonball was later imprisoned, he helped Nina, Bugface and their allies escape and defeat Redwood.

--U.S. Avengers I#11 (#12 (fb), #11-12,

Time Cops

The Time Cops were the group assembled by Bugface Brown to fight against Ritchie Redwood and his Power Skrulls, as Bugface Brown considered being an alien time cop from the future to be an interesting narrative. Ritchie disagreed and Bugface led the Time Cops against Ritchie, who insisted that the Time Cops were not real and demanded Bugface shut up. Eventually, all of the Time Cops were defeated and imprisoned.

--U.S. Avengers I#11 - BTS (#12 - BTS,

Mr. Waspwind

The Skrull who adopted the identity of Glenbrook High teacher Mr. Waspwind was originally a Power Skrull that had been reassigned following the botched Skrull secret invasion of Earth. Serving the Skrull prince that had assumed the role of Ritchie Redwood, Mr. Waspwind helped in the defeat of Ritchie's brother, who had assumed the role of Bugface Brown, when Bugface and Ritchie fought a culture war against one another. Waspwind was later summoned when the U.S. Avengers arrived on Glenbrook to rescue their missing teammate Cannonball and he was easily defeated by the U.S. Avengers and arrested.
