History:

(My Own Romance#74/5 (fb)) - After an uneventful life, 19-year-old Sally Baker was one day caught in a rainstorm. A passing car splashed her, but the polite driver, Tom Gordon, offered to drive her home. Quickly attracted to each other, they began dating, enamored also by each other's interests. She found she was in love but soon boredom began to set in and the love faded. Eventually Tom called it off and Sally wasn't heartbroken, just jaded that she might not find true love. Dates with other men across months failed to excite her. During Christmas shopping, she almost lost a parcel but was helped by the shy Frank Garnett. Keen introductions were swapped and soon followed with various dates doing things she wouldn't normally attend, like a winter cabriolet drive or watching a boxing fight. Sally fell in love with Tom, and a passionate kiss was followed with a wedding proposal and happy marriage soon after.

(My Own Romance#74/5) - A married woman, Sally's opinion was that no man was really perfect, it was only the woman's love that made him seem that way, but with true love, the couple would seem perfect forever.

Comments: Created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Vince Coletta.

Romance comics often featured excellent art panels with contemporary fashion and design work, especially from developing and major artists, with snappy and tight storytelling. The woman & car image at right shows distinctive Kirby art elements, but the profile's main image (from the story's first splash page) is uncharacteristically let down with odd proportions.

These romance stories often had the flavor of the time in which they were written, and nothing else to tie them into Marvel's sliding timescale. As such, it's likely that the stories took place at the time of publication rather than being part of the sliding timescale.
