Powers/Abilities: The greedy Scarecrow was a
fast and experienced gunslinger, and used violence and extortion to
achieve business gains. As a wealthy bully, he led a gang of obedient
gunslingers. He also had good equestrian skills. He had a gray, grassy
beard, which earned him his nickname.

History:
(Kid Colt Outlaw I#5/1 (fb) - BTS) - Through cunning,
criminal
and violent means, Scarecrow secured small ranches around South Forks
to become the largest and wealthiest ranch owner in the area, but he
still wanted more. He would usually bully ranchers to sell their herds under
market price.
(Kid Colt Outlaw I#5/1) - Backed by his right-hand
man
Squint, Scarecrow gunned down young Herb Latimer, who was inexperienced
in gunfighting. This left the teenaged Betty Latimer in charge of the
small Latimer ranch. The other townsfolk and remaining ranch
owners were too fearful of Scarecrow and his bullying gang to intervene
as they left. But fearless rancher Ernie Cantrel rode in and condemned
the
cowards. Soon after, Scarecrow, Squint and
several others set off dynamite that diverted the South Forks river and
stopped the water supply to ranches, including Latimer's. That
night, Cantrel organized a meeting of remaining ranchers but
Scarecrow's men violently barged in with the extortionist's even lower
offer. However, by chance, Kid Colt arrived and drove off Scarecrow's
men. Hearing the ranchers' plight, Colt set up a strategy against
Scarecrow. First, he fooled Scarecrow into splitting his forces by
buying
Betty's cattle and driving them to market at Storyville. Soon after, a
chaotic gunfight
saw the ranchers defeat Scarecrow's remaining gang. Kid Colt, Betty and
Cantrel then confronted Scarecrow in Storyville, and revealed that
Betty was too young to make business deals. Angered at having been
fooled into taking the Latimer cattle to market, Scarecrow ordered
his two gunsels to shoot them, but Kid Colt and Cantrel easily outdrew
and killed the foes.

Squint was Scarecrow's right-hand man, trailing him
around. Following orders, he detonated dynamite to divert the South
Forks river away from the small ranches Scarecrow was targeting. Later,
he led Scarecrow's men to interrupt the ranchers' emergency meeting,
extorting a lower price again for their thirsty cattle. Kid Colt's
sudden arrival and intervention sent Squint and his bullies running. He
was among Scarecrow's forces split as part of Kid Colt's strategy to
protect the ranchers' interests and was later shot during a frantic
mass gunfight while trying to flee. Squint's final fate is unrevealed.
