History: (Daredevil I#143 (fb) – BTS) – Wealthy New Yorker Bill Rotsler spent months establishing a jungle paradise for himself on a New York rooftop. Unable to leave New York due to his work, he built the habitat to help him to live his dream of being in the wild. He and his girlfriend Sharman set it up with plants and animals, bending regulations where they could. Bill also established a rare book collection, focusing on rare physics and chemistry books, and he built an impressive security system, utilizing fiberglass shields and motion detecting lasers.

(Daredevil I#142) – Bill and Sharman introduced a lion (Numa) to their jungle paradise. Bill, in a loincloth, and Sharman, in an animal-skin bathing suit, entered their paradise and were shockingly attacked by Mr. Hyde and Cobra, who were seeking out Rotsler's collection. Hyde knocked Bill unconscious as Sharman screamed then Daredevil arrived to battle the villains. They soon knocked Daredevil out then staked him to the roof, where they hoped the lion would hunt him.

(Daredevil I#143) – Bill (awake) and Sharman rushed in to find Daredevil choking and battling Numa, and they begged the hero to spare the beast.

(Daredevil I#143 – BTS) – Mr. Hyde and Cobra returned after Daredevil left, forced Bill to give them the Cagliostro book, then knocked Bill and Sharman out.

(Daredevil I#143) – Daredevil returned, woke Bill and Sharman up, and heard what happened. They thanked the hero as he rushed off to face the villains and Daredevil encouraged them to call Bert Rose at the police station.

While I never found this confirmed in the comic directly, Bill Rotsler is almost definitely based on writer William Rotsler, who wrote many books, among them some Marvel fiction. Sharman is almost definitely based on his co-writer, Sharman Divino, who also wrote some Marvel fiction books, including some well-known ones on the Silver Surfer.
