History:
(Marvel Graphic Novel#24: Daredevil: Love and War (fb) - BTS) - The blind and beautiful Cheryl married psychiatrist Paul Mondat, and they traveled the world, even spending time in Paris. Paul received an offer from Wilson Fisk to come to New York City, so Paul took Cheryl with him.

(Marvel Graphic Novel#24: Daredevil: Love and War) - Cheryl was disoriented in the new city. When Paul wandered away from her to get a hot dog, she was chloroformed and kidnapped. Paul turned around to find her missing. A man held him at gunpoint and gave him an address to go to. At the address, Paul found Wilson Fisk sitting at the bedside of his catatonic wife, Vanessa. Fisk said Cheryl would be kept safe if Paul could help Vanessa. For days, Paul worked with Vanessa on getting her to speak. Kingpin watched, even while handling criminal situations with Torch Willingham and Louis Ricotta. The next morning, he got some response from Vanessa as she arranged blocks to spell that she wanted away from the Kingpin. After Daredevil liberated them, Mondat took Vanessa to Europe to treat her, where she could assume a new identity. Daredevil also liberated Cheryl.

(Daredevil I#317 (fb) - BTS) - Dr. Paul Mondat provided treatment to Vanessa Fisk, slowly watching her recover. When he heard about the fall of the Kingpin from power, he kept the news from her.

(Daredevil I#317) - When Vanessa got word on the news about the Kingpin, she confronted Mondat, who explained why he'd kept the news from her.

When Paul wandered away from her to get a hot dog, she was chloroformed and kidnapped by Victor. Cheryl was kept sedated in a flophouse and watched over by Victor. Cheryl woke up in Daredevil's arms, having been rescued by the hero. Cheryl later woke in Matt Murdock's bed, but collapsed from the stress when she tried to stand, and Matt laid her by the fire to recover. Matt explained to Cheryl what had happened and promised he'd return in a few hours with her husband. When Victor broke into the apartment with a knife and began groping Cheryl, she grabbed a poker and hit him as he straddled her, presumably killing him.
