History: (ALF I#22/1 (fb) - BTS) - Magmeato established a reputation as planet Melmac's most feared Melmutant villain and had fought the Melmutant superhero team X-Melmen many times, at one point even banishing member Dark Kleenex.

(ALF I#22/1 (fb)) - Magmeato's latest effort for world domination was to control planet Melmac's meat supply; he funneled raw meat through the air to his haircraft carrier ship in the Melmacaribbean Sea, but was confronted by orbit guardsman Gordon Shumway (later known as ALF). Magmeato attacked, but Shumway escaped and crash-landed at Professor Charles Xylophone's School for Gifted Melmutants. Shumway joined the Uncanned X-Melmen (Brogue, Häagen-Dazzler, Michigan Wolverine, Molossus and Psych-Major) in their X-jet and tackled Magmeato on his seaship. Magmeato buried them under a meat pile, but Shumway ate his way out to secure their freedom. Magmeato surrendered. The X-Melmen flew home while Shumway stayed for the F.L.Y. S.W.A.T. team to arrive and take the meat-manipulating miscreant away.

(ALF Special I#2/5 (fb) - BTS) - Shumway was awarded a wrist radio for helping defeat Magmeato.

(ALF I#44 (fb) - BTS) - Magmeato allied with Emma DeFrost in a plot to take over the Earth. He set up a castle-like base on Melmac's uninhabited frozen moon.

(ALF I#44 (fb)) - Coincidentally, the X-Melmen were on a space mission (with Nightcaller replacing Häagen-Dazzler), but their home planet exploded in a separate incident, leaving the X-Melmen as some of the very few surviving Melmacians. They discovered Magmeato and Emma DeFrost on the moon and their plot to take over Earth. Meanwhile, Shumway had made his way to Earth.

(ALF I#44) - Psych-Major and Dark Kleenex went to Earth and gained Shumway's help, changing him into his secret superhero identity of Fantastic Fur, before they rejoined the X-Melmen near Magmeato's moon base. Magmeato caused their spaceship to crash using a digestive tractor beam, then DeFrost almost made the X-Melmen drown by instantly defrosting all the moon's ice. The X-Melmen regrouped and DeFrost escaped on a windsurfer while Magmeato was captured. However, DeFrost's actions had severely destabilized the moon and just before it was about to explode, Shumway fled in an escape pod while Nightcaller dialed an emergency group transportation to an alternate dimension. Later, back on Earth, Shumway played with his Melmutant action figures, confident the real Melmutants had survived.

Comments: Created by Michael Gallagher (writer), Dave Manak (pencils) and Marie Severin (inks).

Magmeato received an entry in the Official Handbook of the Melmarvel Universe (entry at right) (!) (Handbook unpublished - it's a parody, folks).

I ASSume that a Melmutant is simply a mutant on the planet Melmac.

Further details on the Melmacian alien species (according to the ALF television show) can be found on a Melmac fansite. No problem!

CLARIFICATIONS :
Magmeato has no known connections to:

Emma DeFrost

Emma DeFrost was a member of the Mellfire Club on planet Melmac and a Melmutant with the power to instantly turn ice into water. She later allied with Magmeato in a plot to take over the Earth by stealing all of Earth's meat and freezing it on Pluto, with Emma the only one apparently capable of defrosting it. She appeared romantically drawn to Magmeato and dressed in a fur cape to protect her while on Magmeato's base on Melmac's frozen moon. She watched the X-Melmen crash on the moon, but their counter-attack caused her to panic and she unfroze the moon's icy surface, causing many to nearly drown. She windsurfed away as the X-Melmen gave chase, but her defrosting destabilized the moon and it exploded.

DeFrost's final fate is unrevealed. She seemed too far away to be part of Nightcaller's last-second teleport and was later missing from ALF's Melmutant action figure collection.
