History: (Daredevil I#107 (fb) – BTS) – Shrewd and savage attorney Kerwin J. Broderick built up a prominent California law practice with connections to rigged political figures and criminal elements, soon becoming the most powerful practice in the state. He added Jason Sloan to his practice, helping build his career, and Sloan became intensely defensive of Broderick and his methods.

(Daredevil I#89 (fb) – BTS) – Larry Cranston came to join the practice as well, forming Broderick, Sloan and Cranston. Attorney Larry Cranston spoke with senior partner Sloan about offering a position to new attorney Matt Murdock.

(Daredevil I#90) – Cranston took Jason Sloan to the home of Natasha Romanova, Ivan Petrovich and Matt Murdock to personally invite Murdock to join the firm. Sloan's reputation as a shrewd manipulator preceded him and Matt agreed to consider the position.

(Daredevil I#91) – Smoking a cigar, Sloan dismissed Cranston and met with Murdock, saying he had big plans for him. He advised Murdock not to trust Cranston. Later, Sloan walked on the roof as Daredevil was unmasking Mr. Fear as Cranston. Mr. Fear launched at Sloan, saying he hated his kind but Daredevil stopped him. Daredevil then knocked out Sloan himself, fearing Cranston would reveal his secret identity. Shortly after, Cranston seemingly fell to his death.

(Daredevil I#93) – Matt Murdock called Jason "Jase" Sloan, who still wanted to hire Murdock now that Cranston was gone, to ask him for information on Damon Dran. Sloan described Dran's paranoia and his home in Oakland.

(Daredevil I#95 (fb) – BTS) – Murdock agreed to join Sloan's law-firm, now called Broderick, Sloan and Murdock.

(Daredevil I#95) – Murdock showed up at the office and Sloan showed him his new posh space, refurbished since Cranston's death.

(Daredevil I#97) – Sloan informed Murdock that his first case would be the defense of four teens who had been defeated by Daredevil and the police while allegedly committing a crime.

(Daredevil I#98) – Sloan delivered a briefing to Murdock about the arrested teens, who had been sprung from jail by the criminal Dark Messiah. He explained that senior law partner Kerwin J. Broderick wanted the teens to be found guilty, baffling Murdock.

(Daredevil I#101) – Murdock told Sloan (who had stumbled into work at 11:30 a.m.) that he planned to help the kids plead innocent, as Daredevil said they weren't guilty. Sloan advised him to reconsider, stating that although Broderick's methods were unorthodox and sometimes inexplicable, he had become the top lawyer in California and had a lot of clout. Murdock left, conflicted and angry.

(Daredevil I#104 (fb) – BTS) – When Matt wouldn't change his mind about Broderick's demands, Sloan met personally with Judge Albright to delay the trial, giving Matt time to reconsider his options.

(Daredevil I#104) – Sloan told Murdock, who was furious with him, and Matt canceled the delay, going ahead with the trial despite Sloan's warnings.

(Daredevil I#107) – On the news, with secretary Janet, Sloan saw that Broderick had merged himself with a doomsday weapon, Terrex, and that he was threatening to destroy the entire city. Sloan began to realize that Murdock had been right all along. Horrified, and realizing that he was partially responsible for Broderick's insane power, Sloan rushed off to confront the villain. Sloan confronted Terrex directly, first shooting him before he realized Terrex was invulnerable, then begging to be killed but he was shocked when Matt Murdock showed up to confront Terrex. Terrex was soon defeated and Broderick died in a mad battle involving Moondragon, Black Widow, Captain Marvel, Angar the Screamer and the police.

Comments: Created by Gerry Conway, Gene Colan and Tom Palmer.

The first time Sloan's name was mentioned, he was called Frank. I'd argue this is either his middle (and sometimes used) name, or that Cranston just forgot his partner's name for a bit.

And boy does this guy associate with the wrong people! He had three law partners, one with a secret identity as a super hero and two majorly evil villains. Who knows who he is partnered with now?

Sloan presumably parted ways with Matt Murdock after the dissolution of Broderick, Sloan and Murdock. -Proto-Man

Janet

(Daredevil I#91) – An employee of the law firm of Broderick, Sloan and Cranston, Janet put away files while welcoming job applicant Matt Murdock, showing him in to Larry Cranston.

(Daredevil I#95 – BTS) – Janet maintained her job after Murdock joined the firm, now being called Broderick, Sloan and Murdock following Cranston's death as the criminal Mr. Fear.

(Daredevil I#95) – Janet was startled when Murdock emerged from his office, not realizing he had been in. She showed him in to Sloan.
