History:

(Amazing Spider-Man I#117 - BTS) - Rivera learned that the ceiling of an East Side Hotel was collapsing on the night mayor-elect Richard Raleigh was throwing a party. The incident was one of many during Raleigh's campaign to become the next mayor of New York City.

(Amazing Spider-Man I#117) - Rivera arrived just in time to catch Raleigh when he left the venue and asked him on camera if he thought these incidents provided a threat against his campaign. Raleigh shared his thoughts, believing they would only serve to further delineate the line between good and evil. Raleigh continued that the city wanted order and they would know he stood for justice for the common man. Rivera then wrapped up the interview so Raleigh could leave under police escort. All present, however, were unaware Raleigh was in fact behind all of the assassination attempts hoping it would swing the public vote his way.

(X-Men I#99) - During the evening news, Rivera's colleague Roger Grimsby reported on an imminent midnight launch at Cape Canaveral. Where the Starcore Project shuttle piloted by Dr. Peter Corbeau was set to lift-off. After his story Rivera reported on the widespread epidemic of anti-mutant hysteria that swept the country, revealing that the Long Island home of federal judge Robert Chalmers, noted foe of the anti-mutant movement, was firebombed. Grimsby, however, interrupted Rivera's piece to show the viewers an update of the Starcore shuttle launch. After this, they called on Melba Tolliver for the other news stories.

(X-Men Annual II#2 - BTS) - Author Jonathan Chambers was a guest on The Geraldo Rivera Show where he was hit with a chair.

Geraldo Rivera (born Gerald Michael Rivera; July 4, 1943) is an American attorney, reporter, author, and controversial talk show host. He was the host of the talk show Geraldo from 1987 to 1998, where he was known to be as rough and argumentative as some of the people he had on. Infamously, he once broke his nose during a scuffle with some white supremacists on his own show. Rivera hosted the newsmagazine program Geraldo at Large, hosts the occasional broadcast of Geraldo Rivera Reports (in lieu of hosting At Large), and appears regularly as a conservative commentator and analist on Fox News programs such as The Five.
