History:

(Magik II#1 (fb) - BTS) - Nugent was one of several tenants in the residential Bradbury Americana hotel off New York's Fourth Avenue. He shared the building with several fantastical creatures such as the centaur Phil.

(Magik II#1 - BTS) - Through unrevealed circumstances Nugent came to work for Magik (Amanda Sefton).

(Magik II#1 (fb) - BTS) - Shortly after taking over the role of ruler of Otherplace (Belasco's limbo) Magik had her Earthly aide, Nugent, create a computer program/spell that began to assemble, catalog, and codify a database of arcane lore from all sources. Magik intended this to be a research engine she could rely on because it was based on the mortal plane, untainted by the background magics that permeate the splinter realms. She planned to use the research engine as a powerful weapon in her ongoing war.

(Magik II#1 (fb) - BTS) - Nugent relocated the program from his lounge to the bathroom, so that his bathtub could drain away the secretions the program accumulated.

(Magik II#1) - Magik stopped by the Bradbury Americana to check in on Nugent and the progress he'd made.

(Magik II#4 (fb) - BTS) - The repository of magical knowledge evolved, drawing together all the vast elements of eldritch data within it and becoming something else. From Nugent's machine sprang the Archenemy, an absolute force of magical evil. It accumulated more and more power over an undisclosed time and then returned from the far future to conquer and safeguard the time of its birth.

(Magik II#2) - The splinter realms had come under attack from the Archenemy, Nugent was contacted by Magik who wanted an update on the machine's progress. Nugent reported the machine had already been fed three quarters of the world's arcane data. He also revealed the machine suggested the next point of attack would be Hades.

(Magik II#4) - Ultimately realizing she was indirectly responsible for creating the Archenemy, Magik sent Nightcrawler to Nugent who was surprised when Kurt suddenly teleported in. He was even more shocked when Wagner buried his blade in the machine. With the machine destroyed the Archenemy also disappeared.

Comments: Created by Dan Abnett, Andy Lanning (writers), Liam Sharp (pencils, inks).

It's not the first time a ruler of limbo tried to control magic through human technology. During the Inferno crossover, N'astirh and Crotus forced the X-Terminators' Wiz Kid to build them a "Spell Computer" that catalogued and mathematically enhanced magic attacks.

I've taken entry's 3, 4 and 6 from Snood's profile on the Archenemy.

Nugent has no known connections to

Phil the Centaur

Phil, a centaur, was one of the tenants in the residential Bradbury Americana hotel off Fourth Avenue. He had apparently met and befriended Magik during one of her visits to Nugent. At one time she crossed his apartment while he had stuck his head in the fridge and offered to make Magik a snack.
