History:

(Excalibur I#16 - BTS) - Born to royalty, Kymri enjoyed a life of happiness and wealth as the daughter of the King of Barsoom.

(Excalibur I#16 (fb) - BTS) - Kymri's life changed when her father was seduced by Anjulie, a seductive woman secretly helping a creature of fundamental evil achieve world domination. Anjulie overthrew the King of Barsoom and had Kymri banished from the citadel.

(Excalibur I#16 - BTS) - While in exile, Kymri surrounded herself with a pirate-like crew whilst plotting her revenge against Anjulie. When they located her ship, Kymri and her crew prepared to board it.

(Excalibur I#16) - Once Kymri and her crew boarded the vessel, they made short work of the crew and Anjulie's forces. However, her imminent victory was ruined when the dimensional-hopping Excalibur member, Nightcrawler arrived falling right on top of Kymri. Mistakingly believing Kymri was a villain fighting the young and beautiful Anjulie, Nightcrawler picked the wrong side and was knocked out too by Anjulie.

(Excalibur I#16 (fb) - BTS) - Taken prisoner, Kymri was placed in a cell deep inside the royal flying citadel where she was dressed in her royal garb and slated to be sacrificed to Anjulie's evil master.

(Excalibur I#16) - Witnessing Anjulie leave with a deformed man (the former King of Barsoom), Nightcrawler decided to investigate. He followed the pair into the royal citadel's catacombs whered Kymri was locked up and cloaked in her royal garb. She managed to convince the hero of her actual identity, an ashamed Nightcrawler decided to help her defeat the evil Anjulie. Nightcrawler freed Kymri and after getting their hands on sufficient weaponry, they followed Anjulie to the deepest catacombs where they found the bones and remains of Kymri's pirate crew. Kymri and Nightcrawler were in for a shock when they finally caught up with Anjulie who was in the company of her master, a giant green tentacled creature. The creature was right in the process of feeding on Nightcrawler's lost Excalibur. While Nightcrawler tried to free his friends from the creature's tentacles Anjulie was knocked aside by Kymri who then killed her deformed manservant, only to find out to her great horror that it was her father, the former King of Barsoom. Anjulie grabbed a knife and leapt towards Kymri but found herself stabbed to death by a recently freed and furious Kitty Pryde. The heroes subsequently managed to destroy the evil creature by tricking it into feeding on Phoenix (Rachel Summers) whose primal power proved too much for the creature.

(Excalibur I#17) - During the celebration that followed after the creature's defeat, Kymri appeared wearing her pirate gear. She mischievously stated that she much rather misbehave than be a princess even as she patted Captain Britain on the ass.

(Excalibur I#17 (fb) - BTS) - The celebration lasted for days, during which Captain Britain and the other members of Excaibur decided to give this alternate Earth a sorely needed hero. They started a contest.

(Excalibur I#17 (fb) - BTS) - Kymri engaged in a sexual relationship with Alistaire Stuart, insisting he should wear a skimpy outfit.

(Excalibur I#17) - Kymri and several other creatures of Barsoom entered the contest, one of them being Lockheed the first selectman of the Dracic Confederacy and a disguised Phoenix. Several different contests were held to test the warriors in strength, speed, martial arts and intellectual challenges, each game a participant evaluated by the Excalibur quartet. As the days wore on a pattern emerged as Kymri, Lockheed and the disguised Phoenix continued towards victory.

(Excalibur I#17) - Kymri and Alistaire Stuart came to Shadowcat's tent at night while she tried to repair Widget. But before Alistaire could help her Kymri pulled him away, determined to get intimate. When the two shared the bed they were alarmed by the giant Lockheed's cry. Upon investigating Kymri and the others witnessed Shadowcat, Nightcrawler and Captain Britain slain, struck by an assassin. Kymri ordered to sound the alarm and alert the camp but saw two shadowy figures near a campfire. The disguised Phoenix was in a swordfight against one of the Barsoom participants who claimed it was her who'd killed the heroes. Believing the creature, Lockheed immediately attacked the disguised Phoenix. Kymri, meanwhile shielded the grieving Meggan from harm and failed to realize it was the Barsoom creature who'd committed the crime. The creature then stabbed Alistaire and took Meggan hostage, threatening to kill her if Kymri and Lockheed would move. Kymri, Lockheed and Phoenix dropped their weapons but when they prepared to attack the creature anyway he used his extra limbs to shoot Kymri and Lockheed down prompting Phoenix to grab her sword and throw it right into the creature's head, killing him. Meggan and Phoenix then combined their powers to catalyze the latent energy of the world spirit to bring their friends back from the dead, healing the planet in the process as well.

(Excalibur I#17) - Lockheed and Kymri jointly took on the mantle of champion, becoming co-defender of the Barsoom world. Excalibur later left Barsoom Earth.

(Excalibur I#125) - Kymri (discolored as white instead of blue) and Lockheed attended the wedding of 616's Captain Britain to Meggan on Otherworld. Both were also guests during a huge dinner in honor of the newlyweds.

(X-Men II#104 (fb) - BTS) - Kymri took on the mantle and identity of Captain Britain.

(X-Men II#104 (fb)) - Barsoom was conquered by Killian and his Crimson Pirates. Despite Kymri's best efforts, her people were enslaved and she herself was genetically altered to become the Crimson Pirates' hound, personally bonded to serve Killian.

(Uncanny X-Men I#384 - BTS) - Tullamore Voge, a slave dealer who hailed from Barsoom, ran a large slaver organization on Earth. To help him collect humans and deal with the production and logistics, he hired a creature called the Goth who ran a crew of the same name and the Crimson Pirates who were also loyal to him.

(Uncanny X-Men I#383 - BTS) - When the Crimson Pirates learned Voge had been taken prisoner by the X-Men, they decided to step in and rescue their master.

(Uncanny X-Men I#384) - Dressed as a Hound, Kymri was forced to follow the Crimson Pirates when they went out to capture the Russian minister Dmitiri Koniev. They intended to use Koniev as a bargaining chip to free Voge. Once they successfully gained entrance to the KGB offices where Voge was kept, they encountered the X-Men who had been present for the slaver's interrogation. Cable, Storm and Gambit were quickly subdued, then Colonel Alexi Vazhin tried warning Beast, Levin and Phoenix (Jean Grey) but he was attacked by Kymri who slammed his face against a door. The well-trained Vazhin hit her in the head but was shot in the back by the Sea Dogs. Beast, however, managed to escape with both Levin and Phoenix unable to stop the Crimson Pirates from freeing Voge and leaving with the captured X-Men.

(X-Men II#104 (fb) - BTS) - Having learned the X-Men had invaded the Hong Kong branch of the Hellfire Club looking for their captured teammates, the Goth sent the Crimson Pirates to find and deal with the X-Men.

(X-Men II#104) - Having located the X-Men in Hong Kong, Kymri and the Crimson Pirates crashed the villa the heroes were staying at. The Crimson Pirates fought the X-Men until Kymri, due to her enhanced senses, realized that their opponents, except for Rogue, were illusions. Having seen through the ruse, Kymri leapt towards Rogue and clawed at her face. The skin-to-skin contact caused Rogue to absorb Kymri's memories which allowed her to see she was a former Captain Britain captured by the Crimson Pirates. However, before Kymri could react, Killian's pulled her chain after which Rogue escaped.

(Uncanny X-Men I#385) - Kymri and the Pirates had returned to the Goth's hidden city in Northwest China where she sat next to Killian when a group of X-Men led by Gambit arrived. These X-Men who'd previously been captured by the Crimson Pirates and the Goth had struck a deal and now returned with the remaining X-Men as prisoners. The Goth, however, failed to realize another small group of X-Men still had to arrive. Beast, mentally linked with Forge, had shut down the slave collars the X-Men were wearing, allowing them to regain their powers and their senses. Reunited both X-Men teams fought the Goth, Crimson Pirates and presumably Kymri as well. The fight ended when the Goth began to drain the X-Men of their life energy. Rogue absorbed Gambit's power and threw a supercharged card at Goth, killing him.

(Uncanny X-Men I#385 (fb) - BTS) - The X-Men rounded up the villains, freed the slavers' captives and made arrangements to deliver everyone to the appropriate authorities or their homes. This effectively ended Voge's slaver organization on Earth.

(Uncanny X-Men I#450 - BTS) - While fighting a Danger Room session filled with creatures from his early adventure on Earth Barsoom, Nightcrawler wondered whatever might have happened to Kymri.

(Uncanny X-Men I#462 - BTS) - Kymri broke free of the slavemasters who controlled her.

(Uncanny X-Men I#462) - While reality shifted as the Scarlet Witch had spoken the words "No More Mutants", Kymri (miscolored as white) was seen battling one of the slavers.

Comments: Created by Chris Claremont (writer), Alan Davis (pencils), Paul Neary (inks).

The X-Men Index (and the script of Uncanny X-Men I#462) revealed that it was the one and only Kymri who was seen when reality shifted and not some kind of alternative version. Although Kymri's blue skin is miscolored pink.

On Earth-41001 (X-Men: The End), Kymri had married Nightcrawler, bearing him two children: T.J. and Cerise.

Given she comes from a planet named Barsoom, Kymri being the daughter of the king (making her a princess), and the cover of Excalibur I#16 being a homage to one of the most iconic covers used for Edgar Rice Burroughs' "A Princess of Mars", Kymri is clearly a homage to Dejah Thoris.

Claremont used many forms of British and related nations in the names of Captains in the Corps, as such it's probably no coincidence Kymri shares a name that refers to the Cymric tribes of Britain.

CLARIFICATIONS:
Kymri has no known connections to

King of Barsoom

Kymri's father was the King of Barsoom who fell for the advances of the beautiful Anjulie, unaware she was serving a creature of fundamental evil hoping to achieve world domination. Once she had seduced him, she successfully overthrew him and had his daughter Kymri banished from the citadel. As time went on the former King of Barsoom, under the creature's influence, grew boils over his body and became deformed. Spending his days as Anjulie's enslaved manservant, he followed the princess as her guard wielding a staff that could shoot energy blasts. When Nightcrawler and Kymri located the evil creatures deep within the citadel's catacombs the former king tried to shoot his own daugher. Kymri responded by killing him with his sword. As he fell to the ground, his cloak fell off, revealing his true identity. Kymri was distraught she'd just killed her own father.
