mainGODSLAYER

Classification: Possible magic item or cosmically powered weapon

Creator: Unrevealed

User/Possessors: Gamora

First Appearance: Annihilation: Ronan#3 (August, 2006)

Powers/Abilities/Functions: The Godslayer was apparently highly durable and harnessed unspecified energies.

It could be summoned from a distance by its user, but that may have been a property of where it was stored or perhaps this was an ability Gamora possessed at the time.vs. Ronan

History:
(
Annihilation: Ronan#3 (fb) - BTS) - The Godslayer brought down a "pantheon of victims," among them titans and immortals.

(Annihilation: Ronan#3 (fb) - BTS) - Gamora obtained the Godslayer under unspecified circumstances.

(Annihilation: Ronan#3) - In battle with Ronan, Gamora was so impressed with his battle prowess that she decided to honor him with the Godslayer's charnel kiss. Accompanied by a wave of energy, she summoned the Godslayer. Though she drove him back with the blade, her telling him that his name would live on in retellings of this struggle reminded him of his mission to restore his tarnished name. He turned his universal weapon against the Godslayer despite Gamora's warning that it was not some crude base metal, and both were downed by the energy backlash; the Godslayer blade was not seen again, and was possibly destroyed.

Comments: Created by Simon Furman and Jorge Lucas.

A lot of build up for this weapon of power that Ronan destroyed within a couple pages.

Just read the profile here, and remembered that the dagger is mentioned in Gamora's original OHOTMU entry as her chosen weapon in pretty much all of her pre-death appearances, which should probably be taken into account. Unless she somehow ended up with two god-killing daggers, which would still probably be worth mentioning...
