History:

clavian_race-rom-wraiths_attack.jpg(Rom#71 (fb) - BTS) <According to what the Clavians related to Vola> - Clavius was an embattled planet, with the Clavian tribes warring amongst each other for power, riches, territory, or for the sheer thrill of fighting.

(Rom#71 (fb)) - The Dire Wraiths (both science and sorcery-based) -- fleeing their aborted invasion of Galador -- invaded Clavius. The Clavians fought a series of pitched battles, but their disunity was their undoing.

(Rom#71 (fb) - BTS) - The sorcery-powered Wraiths lost their powers with the destruction of Wraithworld, but the science Wraiths maintained their weaponry and assaults.

(Rom#71 (fb)) - Galadorian Spaceknight Raak the Breaker arrived on Clavius. clavian_race-rom-with_vola.jpg

Raak initially used his microwave powers to destroy the Dire Wraiths, the enemies of Galador, but when he found the Wraiths would as willingly serve his power-seeking ends as their own, he used the science Wraiths' technology to subjugate the rest of Clavius as well.

(Rom#71 (fb)) - United agains the common foes, the Clavians began to form a resistance to Raak's rule and fight back.

(Rom#71 (fb)) - In the face of Raak and his murderous Wraith hordes, the Clavians were easily put down and would have been annihilated, but for the arrival of another Spaceknight, Vola the Trapper, who lent her power to the resistance's cause.

(Rom#71 (fb)) - Both sects of Wraiths allied with the renegade Spaceknight Raak the Breaker who had subsequently come to Clavius. clavian_race-rom-target_squadron.jpg

(Rom#71 - BTS) - As Rom, Skera the Scanner, Tarm the Seeker, and Unam the Unseen explored space, seeking to locate Spaceknights unaware of the Wraith war's end, Skera sensed a spaceknight presence on Clavius, leading the Spaceknight Squadron to investigate the planet.

(Rom#71) - As the Spaceknight Squadron landed, they were observed by Clavians who apparently planned to ambush them. As Skera discovered and identified these people, Tarm and Unam confronted and assaulted the would-be ambushers. As the Clavians fled this assault, they rushed right before Rom, whose presence terrified them.

Rom engaged his translator and asked why they sought to ambush he and his comrades, but Vola the Trapper then explained they had learned to hate other Spaceknights than her due to Raak's actions.clavian_race-rom-raak-assault.jpg

(Rom#71 (fb) - BTS) - Rom instructed Skera, Tarm, Unam, and Vola to assault Raak and his Wraith allies.

(Rom#71) - Raak and the Wraith assaulted the Clavians, instructing them if they surrendered and accepted servitude, they would be allowed to live, constructing the assault fleet with which Raak intended to attack Galador.

The oppressors were interrupted by Rom, who led the Spaceknights and Clavian resistance against them. The Spaceknights destroyed the Wraith's weaponry and banished the Wraiths to a branch of Limbo, while Rom confronted Raak. clavian_race-rom-with_spaceknights.jpg

Ultimately, Unam sacrificed himself protecting Rom from Raak's microwave power, allowing Rom to banish Raak to Limbo alongside the Wraiths. The Spaceknights prepared to bury Unam with honor.

Comments: Created by Bill Mantlo, Steve Ditko, and P. Craig Russell.

The OHotMU Deluxe Edition#15 entry on the Clavians names their planet as Clarius, but that is a typo, as it was called Clavius in-story.

My OHotMU image has some smudges on it. I'm working on getting it replaced.

I don't know whether Unam was buried on Clavius, but he was not seen when the Spaceknights next appeared in Rom Annual#4.
