History: (All-New, All-Different Avengers I#10
- BTS) - When Nadia, daughter of Hank Pym, and Edwin Jarvis arrived at
the Van Dyne residence to meet the Wasp (Janet Van Dyne), Janet rushed
out of her home, still on the phone with Barry. Assuring Barry she was
on her way, Janet claimed she could hear Barry's helicopter landing and
suggested Nadia accompany her to help defuse a bomb that threatened to
swallow the East Coast into the Microverse.

All-New, All-Different Avengers I#12 showed both
Wasps leaving the White House, having met with the President and
remarking on how they stopped a Microverse Bomb. This tying in of the
Microverse Bomb plot and the White House establishes the likelihood
that Barry was intended to be Wasp's nickname for real life
then-President Barack Obama, who used the nickname of "Barry" when he
was younger. Without definite confirmation and with Marvel's sliding
time scale, Barack Obama will eventually be considered topical, thereby
making the character covered in this profile a different character
instead of Barack Obama. With that in mind, I covered the character as
if he were not the President. If considered a totally different
character, it's unclear who exactly this separate Barry character was
but one could speculate, based on Wasp's conversation with him, that he
could be the helicopter pilot or just a friend of hers who had ordered
the helicopter for her as a mode of travel and then after the
successful mission to save the world, the Wasps were invited to meet
the generic "U.S. President" afterwards.
