History:

(Excalibur I#62 (fb) - BTS) - Peter (Nigel Orpington-Smythe), leader of the RCX, set out to form a Warpies army to serve the country on his behalf. He used them to construct Cloud Nine an underground base beneath Liverpool's abandoned St. Oswald's Church. With his bases set up, he formed new combat squads like the Advocates who also acted as his personal bodyguards.

(Excalibur I#61 - BTS) - Seeking to bring other superhumans under his control, Peter had the Seraphim kidnap Alistaire Stuart to lure the British superhero team Excalibur into an ambush. Alistaire had just found out the R.C.X. had framed his sister in hopes of weakening W.H.O. and increasing their own power and influence.

(Excalibur I#62) - When Alistaire woke up inside the Cloud Nine facility he was greeted by Peter, seeing the man who had him kidnapped he realized Peter had also framed his sister and had her court-martialed. Enraged Alistaire immediately attacked Peter who quickly pushed a button on his belt which alerted the Advocates. Coming to Peter's rescue Aberdeen Angus took hold of Alistaire's head, ready to crush it at Peter's orders. However, Peter wished to keep up the ruse he was an ally and allowed him to move freely. Convinced Excalibur would put an end to Peter's mad scheme he was surprised to learn his capture was part of the trap set up to lure the superhero group. Later that night, Excalibur had indeed tracked Stuart down to the ruins of St. Oswald Church and were taken prisoner by the Seraphim. At the same time, Peter was showing Stuart around Cloud Nine while the Advocates followed. Stuart was outraged when he learned FI-6 agent Micromax was a captive as well. Peter justified this by reasoning that FI-6 was absorbed into the R.C.X., just as W.H.O. had, which meant they were all on the same side. Before Stuart could press his point, several doctors suddenly rushed by with the small telepathic Warpie Beetroot. The dying telepath shared his thoughts with Stuart, showing him how the Warpies had happily lived at Braddock Manor until they were captured by Peter's forces and heavily experimented on. Beetroot's visions ended when he died. Enraged at what Peter's actions had caused, Stuart hit him only to be subdued by his bodyguard Aberdeen Angus. Peter ordered his doctors to take care of Alistaire as he took off with his Advocates.

Peter and the Advocates next showed up when Seraphim's leader Peanut warned them Nightcrawler had opened the doorway to the Serpents' holding pen causing the monstrous Warpies to spill out and attack. However, when the Advocates arrived to help Nightcrawler, the blue mutant had already defeated them. Impressed, Peter thought that the mutant's martial skills had exceeded all previous reports and his files should be updated. Peter then placed Nightcrawler, Shadowcat and Cerise under arrest, pending official investigation because he considered them illegal aliens.

(Excalibur I#64) - In an attempt to calm down Captain Britain (whom the Cherubim had captured previously) Peter called on some roughhousers Warpies, Aberdeen Angus was one of them.

(Excalibur I#65) - Whilst spying on Captain Britain, Peter and Luke were interrupted by Aberdeen Angus who had begun to revert back to human form. Believing he wouldn't be of any use without his powers Peter ordered Luke to place the Warpie in stasis with the others. Peter had incorrectly concluded the reverting of his Warpies was part of an unknown foe's attack, unaware the Warpies were just reverting back to normal humans. Captain Britain had previously destroyed Merlyn's lighthouse thus dispersing the arcane energies that kept the Warpies in their mutated form (as seen in Excalibur I#50).

In another part of the Cloud Nine base, Peter's right-hand man Luke ordered all of the Warpies combat forces to attack the remaining Excalibur members and other superhumans who had just been released from their quarantine and were determined to stop Peter. Among these Warpies were Celery, Mustard, Salt and Shrew who attacked the heroes. Celery joined Peccary and Giggles in attacking Micromax while Salt and Shrew fought Shadowcat. However Prune and Wire decided it was time to help the heroes and rallied all other Warpies to finally take a stand against Peter and his regime. As such Shadowcat was helped by Prune who hit Salt unconscious right before he could hit Shadowcat. Mustard in turn was taken out by Chili. The fight was halted when Captain Britain returned. This led to Peter getting unmasked. In the aftermath, Alistaire Stuart and the former captured RCX agents decided to take over the Warpies' well-being.

Aberdeen Angus is a specific breed of Highland cattle. When you combine this with Angus' Scottish speech patterns, and the tartan "full plaid" he's wearing over his shoulder, complete with appropriate broach and sporran, it's blatantly clear he's one of the handful of Warpies identified as coming from Scotland (the others being Silver Death and Ocelot). The tartan is probably meant to be the Royal Stewart, which is the Queen's personal tartan - which, counter to what "personal" might lead you to think, is thus the most widely usable design, worn by various British army regiment of Scottish origin. People are only meant to wear the tartan of their clan, but any of the Queen's Scottish citizens are by default part of her clan. However, it might also be the Ramsay, Wallace or Brodie tartan (they look broadly similar, and with the inexact coloring of a comic the subtle differences wouldn't be obvious). If it is the Royal Stewart, then (in-universe) it would have been chosen to indicate he is effectively a British soldier; if one of the other tartans, then we've got a possible hint at a surname.
