History

(New Excalibur#18 (fb)) - In 1914, a massive World War broke out and four years later, it continued due to a healthy supply of weapons secretly given out by a group of extradimensional warlords who had arrived on Earth-70518.

(New Excalibur#18 (fb)) - One hundred years later, the War continued and had spread to cover the entire planet. Growing up amidst the War, Ranger Captain Bran Bardic led his army, dressed in rags and raiding weapons from the dead. Hit with a bomb-blast, Bran was met by Otherworld’s Roma and Merlyn, who offered Bran the Amulet of Right and the Sword of Might. Taking the Sword, Bran was transformed into Albion, a champion of might. Surprised by Bran’s choice of the Sword, Roma announced that they would need to reclaim Bran’s newfound powers and, angry at Roma’s supposed tease of power, Albion threatened to bury his Sword into Roma’s chest. Merlyn intervened and convinced Roma to allow Albion to keep his powers. Roma and Merlyn then departed, with Roma warning Albion that the Sword represented destruction and that she aimed to correct her father’s mistake. She also warned him to take care, lest Albion’s power cost him his very soul. Awakening, Albion slaughtered the soldiers who sought to kill him and began using his new powers to win the war in his favor. Eventually, the war was ended by Albion but it had taken its toll on the planet, leaving destroyed farmland, poisoned oceans and large numbers of wounded and diseased. Saddened that his world had become a planet of starvation and disease, things his power could not help, Albion tracked down the last remnants of his war enemies to a fortress containing the extradimensional warlords that had been supplying weapons for generations. When Albion began attacking an enemy soldier, the warlords attempted to flee to another Earth using their Dimensional Doorway device. Instead, the Doorway allowed fellow Corps member Captain Prydain of Earth-7580 to travel through the portal and apprehend the warlords. Seeing Albion about to slay his enemy, Captain Prydain warned Albion to spare the soldier’s life and when Albion decapitated the enemy, Captain Prydain jumped into battle against Albion. Defeating Captain Prydain when the hero was shocked at Albion’s resemblance to Brian Braddock of Earth-616, Albion used the Dimensional Doorway to travel to Earth-7580 himself, where he killed Captain Prydain and claimed Earth-7580 as his new home. From Earth-7580, Albion began plotting to strip Roma of her heroic champions as well as Brian Braddock.

(New Excalibur#5 (fb) - BTS) - Traveling to Earth-616, Albion recruited fellow Sword of Might-chooser Lionheart to his cause and confronted Captain Britain (Brian Braddock). The two fought a heated battle that caused damage to London itself until Albion retreated when he saw Lionheart showing mercy to Courtney Ross.

Comments: Created by Chris Claremont, Scot Eaton, Staz Johnson, John Dell, Scott Hanna, Dave Meikis and Tom Palmer.

The divergent point of this Earth occurred at the point in which the extradimensional warlords began supplying soldiers with weapons, causing World War I to continue past 1918.
