History:

(Adventures Into Weird Worlds#14/4) - Russo was a normal man who was fishing on his boat when he saw a man walking on the seawater. Astonished he didn't notice that the man appeared undernourished and weak. Russo desired the secret for walking on the water, so he menaced the man with his rifle.
The man accepted, and accompanied Russo underwater to the ocean's floor. There he performed a ritual invoking Neptune. The god lent his power and Russo became capable to breathe underwater and to walk on the surface of the sea.
But when he tried to walk on the beach he sunk!

Comments: Created by an unknown writer, Jay Scott Pyke (pencils and inks).

The water walking ability was probably associated to the coral, the water breathing to the seaweed. Harry Potter used a weed to breathe underwater too.

"Russo" is a surname more prominent in Italy.

Man who walked on the sea

The man who walked on the sea had been mutated, but before that he was a normal man.
He could walk on the surface of the sea and breathe underwater, but he could not walk on the solid ground where he sunk.

The man was forced to walk only on the sea unable to enter any town, street and so on.

When he met Joe Russo he tried to avoid him because he knew that his power was actually a curse. But when Russo menaced him the man had to obey. He accompanied Russo to the floor of the ocean where he had Russo perform a special ritual. Russo rubbed some coral on his feet and a particular seaweed on his nose and on his body. Aftert that Russo prayed to Neptune to give to Russo the power of breathing underwater and of walking on the sea surface. It worked.
