ANDROMIANs race

Classification: Humanoid extraterrestrial race

Location/Base of Operations: Planet Andromia, star system, galaxy, and time period (see comments) undefined;
Andromia was largely Earth-like, with cities and farms.

Known Members: None identified

Affiliations: Part of Shann's race's empire

Enemies: Shann and his race

First Appearance: Tales to Astonish I#54/3 (April, 1964)

Powers/Abilities: The Andromians demonstrated no superhuman abilities. They possessed spaceships of an unspecified level prior to the assault from Shann's race.

Traits: The Andromians developed technology superior to modern day Earth. Though they defended their homeland valiantly, they were ill-prepared for an ambush from space. Shann's race viewed them as weak, and as easy targets.

Type:  Bilaterally symmetric humanoid bipeds
Eyes:
Two (on head; colors unidentified)
Fingers:
Four (including opposing thumb)
Toes:
Unrevealed
Skin color: Pink/"white"
Average height: Approximately 5'10"? (just a guess; they were largely human, so I just went with that; their leader was smaller than Shann, who appeared to be large and powerful)

History:
(Tales to Astonish I#54/3 (fb) - BTS) - The Andromians developed spaceships, cities, and farmlands.

(Tales to Astonish I#54/3) - The Andromians were caught unawares by an assault by the invading Shann's race, who destroyed their spaceships before they could even get them off the ground.

(Tales to Astonish I#54/3) - Rallying their forces, the Andromians defended their homeland valiantly, but the superior alien foe leveled their cities and laid waste to their fertile lands.

(Tales to Astonish I#54/3) - With all resistance crushed, their leader surrendered to Shann, handing over his sword to him.

(Tales to Astonish I#54/3 - BTS) - With their cities and lands devastated, the Andromians were left destitute and hungry.
Shann's people initially praised him as a conquering hero, but soon resolved to feed the Andromians and help rebuild their civilization until they were self-sufficient. The mammoth efforts and costs to accomplish this goal exhausted Shann's race, who came to resent Shann.

Comments: Created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, and Sol Brodsky.

Shann's world was described as "a planet far away in time and space." This description would fit, too, for the Andromians. It is unrevealed whether this occurred in the past or in a potential future...I prefer the former, because the latter would place these events in an alternate reality, and we'd probably never know if the race(s) even existed in Reality-616.
