Powers/Abilities: Zarthon's lodge did not possess stairs; in order to obtain access, guests must climb a rope of eels created by one of Zarthon's spells. Zarthon possessed significant mystical power and training in the arts of sorcery, including telekinesis, the power to create spatial portals and to transform himself into energy.

History: (Marvel Super Special#12) - Tyndall, Velanna and Mud-Butt brought the Darklens gems to Zarthon, having heard his name from a Savage Elf who had died while carrying them. Zarthon excitedly explained the properties of the gems to the three uninformed heroes.

(Marvel Super Special#13) - Zarthon explained the origins of the Darklens gems to Tyndall, Velanna and Mud-Butt, and created the Key of Illumination from the gems so that it could be used to access the Tomb of Limbo where Darklens' remains were being held. Zarthon explained that no wizard could wield the key without being killed, so the trio would have to complete Darklens' destruction on their own. However, even as they departed through a portal Zarthon created in his mirror, Zarthon mused to himself that he might not be able to resist the lure of Darklens.

After the heroes opened the Tomb of Limbo, Zarthon succumbed to Darklens, transformed himself into a ball of energy and flew into the tomb, where he placed the five gems upon his head, claiming all of Darklens' power for himself. Zarthon's body began to transform into that of Darklens, but the Dark Riders attacked him, considering him a disgrace to their liege. Before the fusion of Darklens/Zarthon could be completed, the "White Wolf," one of Darklens' rivals among the gods of Weirdworld came and destroyed Zarthon/Darklens.
