Aliases: "Mr. Dangerous"

First Appearance: Scarlet Spider#1 (November, 1995)

Powers/Abilities: The Pro is a highly efficient and professional contract killer and mercenary.  He wields a number of conventional and unconventional weapons, including a taser, magstats (miniature explosives), a remote-controlled explosive collar, and fusion grenades, in addition to various silenced firearms.

History: The Pro is a well-established assassin, known to his clients only as a PIN number,

(Scarlet Spider#1) - The Pro incapacitated the entire security force of Mr. Stanislaw at his Long Island estate, cornered him in his office, and ordered him to shut down his operations and flee the country.  He left him alive, as he wasn't paid to kill him.  Leaving Stanislaw's estate, he received a new target from Doctor Octopus: Jason Tso.  That evening, he tasered two of Tso's employees, Lenny and Carlo, behind Tso's Club Noir.  Attaching magstats to the back of their heads, he sent them in with guns, grenades, and orders to kill Tso.  When they were stopped by Tso's employee Ben Reilly, the Pro interceded himself, breaking into Tso's safe room.  Once there, he knocked out Tso's bodyguard Kannor and held Tso at gunpoint while he contacted Octopus, who wanted to watch Tso die.  Before he could pull the trigger, the Scarlet Spider broke in, prompting Octopus to double the Pro's fee if he offed the Spider.  Convincing her to triple it, the Pro attacked, only to be webbed up and dengled out the window.  Unwilling to give up his fee, the Pro tossed a grenade into the room, escaping while the Spider rescued Bugle reporters Ken Ellis and Angela Yin.

(Spectacular Scarlet Spider#2) - Fulfilling his contract, the Pro shot and killed Tso while he was engaged in battle with Dr. Octopus' forces.

(Spider-Man Unlimited I#12) - The Pro cornered Peter Parker in an alleyway, smacked him around a little bit, and put an explosive collar around his neck, hoping to persuade him to take him to the Spider-Man skeleton.  Parker took the Pro to a Staten Island graveyard, where he dug up the bones.  Taking the skeleton and removing Parker's collar, the Pro drove off, only to be accosted by Spider-Man.  The web-slinger managed to yank the assassin from his car and knock him out, but was prevented from taking the skeleton thanks to the arrival of the "Rogues", an impromptu group of supervillains who also sought it.  Recovering, the Pro shot and tranquilized the Shocker and held off his teammates with some fusion grenades as he fled.  Spider-Man quickly snatched the skeleton, leaving the Pro to fend off the Beetle.  Waiting for Spider-Man to take out the Beetle, the Pro then held both at gunpoint, but was soon hit with a shovel by Parker.  The Pro and the Rogues were subsequently taken in by the police.

Comments: Created by Howard Mackie, Todd DeZago, Gil Kane (yes, Gil Kane), & Tom Palmer.

According to Glen Greenberg's 15th Life of Reilly column, the Pro was inspired by Jean Reno's character Leon in The Professional.

I can only assume Lenny and Carlo were named after Homer Simpson's coworkers, Lenny and Carl.

Profile by Minor Irritant.
