Reno holding Yvette Diamond at gunpoint

History: (Fantastic Four III#20) - When the Fantastic Four found themselves in Paris, they decided to investigate the site of their previous battle with the Ruined. As they studied the hieroglyphics, Reno watched on from the shadows. Making his presence known, Reno announced that he was a member of the French Secret Service, and that he might be an ally to the Four. Discovering that the Ruined were back, the Fantastic Four attacked them, preventing them from sacrificing Margali Szardos. But Reno followed them, and held a gun to Yvette Diamonde's head, realizing she was the catalyst for the Ruined's appearance, and that if he did away with her, he'd do away with them. Fortunately, the Human Torch was able to defeat the Ruined, and Reno wasn't forced to shoot her. He did put her under arrest however, despite Johnny Storm's protest.

(Fantastic Four III#21) - At the famous Ritz hotel, the Fantastic Four again tried to convince Reno to get his government to drop the charges on Yvette Diamonde, but he claimed he was just protecting his homeland. Before they could continue to argue their case, the Four were interupted by Alyssa Moy, and forced to return to America.

(Fantastic Four Annual 1999) - In the French sorcerer prison, La Citadel, Reno led the Fantastic Four to Margoli Szardos, who was being held captive there. Along the way, the group was attacked by a gathering of demons, using the jail's guards as hosts. Despite emptying his gun on the guards, Reno was unable to put them down. Just as things were looking their worst, Mechamage intervened, and managed to save Reno and the Four, who departed with Margali, leaving the Frenchman behind.

Comments: Created by Chris Claremont, Salvador Larroca, and Art Thibert

Reno is an obvious tribute to the French actor, Jean Reno, known for playing hardboiled characters in such films as La Femme Nikita, Leon, Mission Impossible, and Wasabi.
