Other capabilities remain unknown, as does the ultimate source of Papa Hagg's powers.

History:

(Defenders II#2 (fb) - BTS) - Nighthawk spent his fortune seeking out mystics and occult knowledge, finally hiring the dwarfish mystic Papa Hagg to exorcise him of Mephisto's powers.

(Defenders II#2 (fb) - BTS) - Richmond brought his ally, Valkyrie, to Papa Hagg, who determined she was imbued with Asgardian magic.

(Defenders II#1) - Papa Hagg landed with Richmond and his bodyguard, Valkyrie, amid a swarm of gargoyles (summoned by Yandroth). When Richmond received a call for aid from Hellcat, Papa Hagg agreed to mystically teleport the original Defenders (Doctor Stephen Strange, Hulk (Bruce Banner), Silver Surfer, and Sub-Mariner) to aid against her battle in Maine. The Defenders succeeded in their mission, but Papa Hagg sensed that a curse had been placed on them by the dying Yandroth.

(Defenders II#2) - Papa Hagg, using his magic, allowed Richmond, Hellcat, and Valkyrie to watch as their allies were defeated by Pluto and another Valkyrie in northern Canada.

(Defenders II#3 (fb) - BTS) - Papa Hagg enchanted a ring that allowed Nighthawk and others to follow the four main Defenders whenever the curse was activated.

(Defenders II#9 –BTS) – Nighthawk talked to Papa Hagg about the Defenders’ curse, and Papa Hagg stated there may be something unexpected going on.

(Defenders II#12) – Papa Hagg arrived at Dr. Strange’s mansion just as Hellcat and Valkyrie were leaving. After teasing Wong, Hagg met Nighthawk and Strange, who was furious that Hagg was there and blasted him outside.

(Order#1) – Papa Hagg couldn’t find Nighthawk when he arrived to align the hero’s Chi, so he followed Valkyrie and Hellcat to the home of Reginald and Malicia Parrington and was shown in by the butler Springthorpe. Reminded of the magic ring Nighthawk wore, Hagg retrieved Nighthawk, who’d been near frozen in the Himalayas, and teleported him into the Parrington living room. After fixing the ring, he departed.

(Order#2) – Sensing Nighthawk needed him, Hagg cut his safari short and teleported, on elephant-back, to the Parringtons. He sent his elephant on to the stables at Nighthawk’s suggestion. Nighthawk, Valkyrie, and Hellcat asked Hagg to decipher what had happened to the other Defenders since the curse was placed. Hagg linked their auras and sent the three of them into an astral realm to decipher the truth. He learned all he needed, then watched as the computer avatar, Bunnyhopper, announced the Order’s actions in Alaska.

(Order#3) – Following the guidance of the mystic Loa, Papa Hagg devised a way to balance out the Order, and summoned Nighthawk, Valkyrie, and Hellcat to act as his agents. Valkyrie retrieved Namorita from Atlantis, Hellcat retrieved She-Hulk from Avengers mansion, and then all five of them retrieved Clea from the Dark Dimension. They wondered how they would find a female counterpart to Silver Surfer, however.

(Order#4) – Returning to the headquarters after snow-boarding, Papa Hagg cued the others in on his plan for the female Surfer, then sent the team to procure energy from the Silver Surfer, which Clea made into Ardina, the Surfer’s female half. The Order attacked them and teleported them away.

(Order#6) – Papa Hagg gathered the female counterparts of the Order, during a massive battle between Earth’s heroes, the Order, and the Masters of the Mental Arts, to explain how they could stop the Order. Yandroth, however, struck Hagg down before he could explain. After Yandroth was defeated, he invited the heroes to party with him in another century.
