Jillian Blythe realizes she's nobody's Valentine

History:

(Spider-Man's Tangled Web#11 (fb) - BTS) - Jillian Blythe was an experienced reporter who had racked up various articles for the Daily Bugle newspaper, notably on costumed superheroes like Iron Man, Captain America and Spider-Man, which she stuck up in her cubicle.

(Spider-Man's Tangled Web#11 (fb)) - Blythe met up with Peter Parker in the staff lunch-room and lied to get a date with him, writing the time in red on his arm. However, Parker was not focused on her as he had other concerns.

(Spider-Man's Tangled Web#11) - Jillian excitedly finished another news article in her messy cubicle and ordered a strong coffee from journalism intern Spence Williams. After downing it, she hurriedly changed into a slinky black dress for her date with Parker but knocked into Miss Kay, smudging the other's lipstick. Without apologizing, Blythe sauntered off to the Coffee Bean for her date, flirting briefly with Angus and Flash Thompson on her arrival. She was shocked to hear that Miss Kay was there also waiting for Peter Parker and mocked Kay when she revealed her long-term hopes for a peaceful relationship with Parker. Blythe instead saw herself together with Parker as a dynamic duo of heroic reporters. Flash Thompson then stopped the two women arguing by pointing out that they had both been stood up. The two would-be dates then decided to confront Parker at his place, with Flash providing the address and the transport. The two women then shouted at the near unconscious Parker, who had been badly wounded in a fight with the Vulture earlier that night. Parker then fainted and the two women then helped him, immediately forgiving him.

(Spider-Man's Tangled Web#20) - On a snowbound Christmas Eve, Peter Parker charitably brought a group of stranded Japanese children to the Daily Bugle. Jillian helped look after the wayward children at the Bugle's Christmas party. She told Jameson of a fight at Macy's between Spider-Man and the Inhuman Medusa, and accompanied Jameson and the children there, where it was finally revealed that the Puppet Master was responsible for the chaos. She later comforted Flash, who had been injured in the melee.

Comments: Created by Darwyn Cooke (writer & pencils) and Jay Bone (inks).

The first tale likely took place when Mary Jane was not on the scene and when Peter Parker was a teacher, although the second tale shows Peter next to Mary Jane in the last panel.
