These romance stories often had the flavor of the time in which they were written, and nothing else to tie them into Marvel's sliding timescale. As such, it's likely that the stories took place at the time of publication rather than being part of the sliding timescale.

This story was later reprinted in issue #22.

Martin Drake

Martin Drake was a renown photographer in the fashion industry, but could be gruff. He admonished Jo Blythe when she was late bringing her sister's dress to a photo shoot. He later apologized for his behavior at the Models' Ball. He asked Jo to indulge his passion for painting by having her pose for him and painted her in a classical style. Jo finally accepted that he truly was attracted to her and the two kissed passionately.
