ADZE VAMPIRES

Classification: Presumably supernaturally altered humans

Location/Base of Operations: Guyana

Known Members: Anita Alomii

Affiliations: Dracula, other vampires

Enemies: Benjamin Alomii, Blade (Eric Brooks), Enzo Ferrara, Lucas Telling-Stone

First Appearance: Tomb of Dracula IV#1 (December, 2004)

Powers/Abilities: As vampires, the Adze consume the blood of humans, and those slain by having their blood drained by the Adze will become Adze themselves. They can be killed by a wooden stake through the heart, though they can get so fired up on adrenaline that don't realize their own destruction until ten minutes after they are destroyed, enabling them to keep fighting.
    They presumably have superhuman strength.

The Adze's vulnerability to sunlight (probably), religious symbols, etc. is unrevealed, as is whether the possess other powers or limitations.

Traits: The Adze consume the blood of humans for sustenance. They are savage warriors.

History: The origin of the Adze vampires is unrevealed.

(Tomb of Dracula IV#1 (fb) - BTS) - Mrs. Alomii was transformed into one of the Adze vampires.

(Tomb of Dracula IV#1 (fb)) - Mrs. Alomii devoured her own children and then went on a rampage, destroying half of her native village. Her husband, Ben Alomii, cleansed those victims who remained in the village, preventing the plague from spreading outside his native province. He completed the task by staking and destroying his own disease-ridden wife.

(Tomb of Dracula IV#1-3 - BTS) - Adze vampires were amongst the many vampires of the world summoned to Castle Dracula in the Carpathian Mountains of Transylvania to protect Dracula during his performance of the Ritual of Ascendance.

(Tomb of Dracula IV#3 - BTS, Tomb of Dracula IV#4) - Adze were among the army of vampires that attacked Noah van Helsing's vampire hunters: Benjamin Alomii, Blade, Enzo Ferrara, Lucas Telling-Stone. Enzo staked one of the Adze but failed to realize that this wouldn't instantly kill it, and the vampire chomped down on his throat.

Comments: Created by Robert Rodi, Bruce Jones, Jamie Tolagson, Tom Palmer, and Jay Leisten.

Not sure if any/all of these are accurate, but apparently the Adze are a real part of vampire mythology:

And there's a ton more if you Google "Adze vampires"

In Blade III#12 a prophecy was fulfilled that brought back all vampires that ever died. This most likely included slain Adze vampires as well. We'll have to wait if they resurface.

Mrs. Alomii's first name was revealed in Vampires: The Marvel Undead#1 (December, 2011).
