History: (Namor I#6) - Acting as Namor's attorney in the city's suits against Namor for his public criminal acts of aggression over the years, Mr. Klein led Namor through a gaggle of reporters into the the courthouse.

(Namor I#13 (fb)) - Finally prepped for Namor's trial, Mr. Klein and Namor prepared Namor's defense and agreed to only call one witness: Caleb Alexander, who could testify about Namor's recently discovered blood imbalance and give a temporary insanity spin on the proceedings.  Mr. Klein was aware that the prosecuting attorney, Mr. Kemp, would be calling several credible witnesses.

(Namor I#13) - As Mr. Kemp questioned the Human Torch about Namor's return to the modern age and his subsequent attack on New York. Namor asked Mr. Klein not to object as Namor trusted the witnesses.  Judge Clearwater did support one objection, however.  Mr. Klein listened to Mr. Kemp's questioning of Mister Fantastic about Namor's attack with Giganto on New York, then let Mister Fantastic finish his thoughts during his cross-examination.  Mr. Kemp then questioned Namor about his alliance with Dr. Doom against the Fantastic Four.  During Kemp's questioning of Thor, Thor grew angry and threatened Kemp before calming himself.  Klein then called Caleb Alexander to the stand and heard testimony about Namor's blood imbalance being the cause of his past behaviors.  After the jury finished their discussion, they found Namor guilty but insane.  Judge Clearwater sentenced Namor to one hundred years probation and appointed Captain America as Namor's probation officer, citing Namor's war record and Avengers membership as causes.

Comments: Created by John Byrne.

In his first appearance, in being questioned by the reporters, Namor's lawyer was called Mr. KLINE.  However, in court, his name was spelled KLEIN, which is the way I chose to spell it for this profile.

Clarifications:

Mister Klein has no known connections to

Mr. Kemp

(Namor I#13) - Acting as the prosecuting attorney for the city in its trial against Namor, Mr. Kemp questioned the Human Torch of the Fantastic Four about Namor's return in the modern age and his subsequent attack on New York.  Despite the opposing counsel Mr. Klein's objections, Namor let the Human Torch speculate, although Judge Clearwater did support one objection.  Mr. Kemp next questioned Mister Fantastic about Namor's attacking the surface with Giganto, listened to Mr. Klein's cross-examination, then added some final questions about Namor's alliance with Doctor Doom against the Fantastic Four.  Mr. Kemp continued this pattern when questioning Thor, who lost his cool and almost physically accosted Mr. Kemp before calming himself.  After Mr. Klein questioned Caleb Alexander, the jury found Namor guilty but insane.  Namor was assigned one hundred years probation.

Judge Marion Clearwater

(Namor I#13) - Sitting as the judge at the trial of Namor, Judge Clearwater heard Mr. Kemp (prosecuting attorney) and Mr. Klein (defending counsel) question several witnesses regarding Namor's acts against the surface world and his motives.  The witnesses included the Human Torch and Mister Fantastic of the Fantastic Four, Thor of the Avengers, and Caleb Alexander.  Judge Clearwater discussed the proper procedure of swearing a Norse god in with the Bible with Thor.  Thor lost his cool during his testimony and ignored the judge's order to stand down, and he almost physically accosted Mr. Kemp before calming down.  After Mr. Klein questioned Caleb Alexander, the jury found Namor guilty but insane.  Citing Namor's war record and Avengers membership, Judge Clearwater assigned Namor one hundred years probation and assigned Captain America as Namor's probation officer.
