History: (The Incredible Hulk II#240 (fb) - BTS) - Captain Bowman worked at Gamma Base for a long period of time. He knew Betty Ross when she was a "wren". He became security chief of Gamma Base.

(The Incredible Hulk II#239) - Captain Bowman, Lt. Perrywinkle, Dr. Maxwell and Senator Hawk were in the radar room of Gamma Base, observing an operation to capture the Hulk without destroying Mount Rushmore. The Hulk fled with the help of Goldbug.

(The Incredible Hulk II#240 - BTS) - Bowman and Clay Quartermain became friends. Quartermain nicknamed Bowman "Cappy".

(The Incredible Hulk II#240) - The day after, Bowman asked Quartermain if somebody had found the Hulk. Betty Ross arrived at Gamma Base piloting a "delta-wing" fighter. Bowman called her "wren". Shortly after Betty Ross confessed to Bowman, Quartermain and Tenent Perrywinkle that she had divorced Glenn Talbot.

Bowman and Maxwell assisted in a discussion between Ruth Messinger and General Ross, and immediately after he had to attend to Col. Talbot who had stolen the War Wagon and left to capture the Hulk.

Comments: Captain Bowman was created by Roger Stern, Sal Buscema and Mike Esposito.

Hulkbuster Base was formed from a joint effort of the U.S. Army and Air Force, so its officers would almost certainly be from one of these groups. I'm betting someone can look at the uniform he's wearing and ID as Air Force or not, but I'm not sure myself.

His first name was revealed in the Hulkbusters' entry in OHOTMU A-Z HC#5.
