Marcella and Sean are tracking Paul Proust but he is Skull-JacketHistory:
(Amazing Spider-Man '96/2) - Marcella, a beat cop, guarded a Brighton Beach murder scene (a victim of the Deadmaker or one of his associates), and Ken Ellis tried to charm his way in. He failed, but he did go out on a date with her later.

(Spider-Man Unlimited I#11/1 (fb) - BTS) - When Marcella Cellanos wasn't yet a detective she was helped by Ken Ellis to resolve a case. Shortly after she was promoted to the homicide branch of the New York Police Department.

(Spider-Man Unlimited I#11/1 (fb) - BTS) - Detective Marcella Cellanos was contacted by Ken Ellis in order to gain information about the case of the Havershaw Murder. The Black Cat was the first suspect for the murder, but Cellanos also suspected Jason Havershaw.

(Spider-Man Unlimited I#11/1) - Cellanos left her district at Uptown and went to Little Italy to meet Ken Ellis. She gave to Ellis some photos of the Black Cat, photos to be used for an smear campaign against the Black Cat, in order to drive her to do an error and to be incriminated for the murder (and probably with the secondary purpose of covering the suspicions about Jason Haversanw). Cellanos, however, was unaware that Ellis was actually being impersonated by Skull-Jacket.

That afternoon, Cellanos and her colleague Sean Murphy tracked Paul Proust to Brighton Beach in Brooklin, Manhattan, where he entered in a bar frequented by the Russian mob. The two detectives linked Proust and Black Cat's names to the Russian mob, unaware that Proust was actually being impersonated by Skull-Jacket.

(Spider-Man Unlimited I#11/1 - BTS) - Later, Cellanos spoke again to Ken Ellis by phone about Havershaw's murder.

(Spider-Man Unlimited I#11/1 - BTS) - Spider-Man (Ben Reilly) gave to Cellanos some photos showing Jason Havershaw buying drugs from the Kasatanov family.

(Spider-Man Unlimited I#11/1) - The morning after Marcella Cellanos, Sean Murphy, and Ken Ellis went to find Jason Havershaw, with a search-warrant, now suspecting him to be the principal of the murder. While Murphy distracted Jason (actually Skull-Jacket in disguise), Cellanos searched the house and found the real Jason Havershaw. The false Jason transformed into Skull-Jacket and a fight begun. Murphy was stunned by a dart and Cellanos was slightly wounded by Skull-Jacket's shots. Spider-Man intervened and knocked the criminal out.

The criminal was arrested.
