Powers/Abilities: William Liu was presumably a genius in more than one field of science to have qualified as the Yellow Claw's chief scientist. Parts of his body had been replaced with bionic parts, but aside from containing an explosive device the Yellow Claw could detonate, he demonstrated no unusual abilities.

History: (Avengers I#204) - William Liu served the Yellow Claw on his island within a protective dome, as the Yellow Claw began to gather eminent women to serve as the mothers of his children. As he and the Yellow Claw toured their facilities, they saw the Wasp fly past, and mistook her for an insect. Realizing that their dome was no longer secure, the Yellow Claw sounded an alert, and eventually discovered that the Avengers were on his island. He had William Liu bring them to see him, and learned that they had come in response to a distress call from Shu Han. When the Yellow Claw simply allowed Shu Han to leave with them, they departed. After they were gone, the Yellow Claw revealed to Liu that his ultimate goal was to sterilize mankind, making his offspring the only humans left alive.

(Avengers I#205) - Horrified by the Yellow Claw's intentions, Liu came to the Avengers to warn them of the Yellow Claw's plans, but the Yellow Claw was aware of his treachery, and set off a bomb inside of his chest that killed him. Before dying, Liu gave the Avengers coordinates to the site of the Claw's missile base in Australia, so that they would have a chance to stop him.
