Powers/Abilities:
Simon Walters did not possess any superhuman powers but he presumably
had some degree of military training during his past as a soldier.
While possessed by the consciousness of the alien Korbinite Beta Ray Bill, Walters' body possessed superhuman durability, allowing him to survive physical blows that would kill a normal human such as being forcibly knocked into a solid brick wall by a superhuman strong opponent or getting hit a flying chunk of rock. Additionally, he could pound his fist on the ground to initiate a transformation into the form of Beta Ray Bill. While in Simon Walters' form, Beta Ray Bill had limited access to Simon's actual life memories.
Simon Walters was shown to be a
rather talented artist during his time possessed by Beta Ray Bill but
whether those artistic skills were inherent to Simon Walters or Beta
Ray Bill was never revealed.
Height: Unrevealed (approximately 5'8")
Weight: Unrevealed (approximately 152 lbs.)
Eyes: Brown

History:
(Stormbreaker: The Saga of Beta Ray Bill#6 (fb) - BTS) -
Simon Walters
was a United States military veteran that was homeless, living in a
box. At some point, he died. As Simon died, the alien Korbinite Beta
Ray Bill was also dying in the shattered remains of the destroyed
Asgard and a ghostly figure approached Bill, proclaiming that all was
not lost before touching Bill and transporting his consciousness
elsewhere.
(Stormbreaker: The Saga of Beta Ray Bill#6) - Simon's corpse was found by a homeless friend of his, who had come to make sure Simon was eating. Saddened that his friend had given up on life, Simon's friend remarked on how much of a shame Simon's death was before leaving the scene. As Simon's corpse lay unmoving, barely covered by the remnants of the box he had lived in, lightning struck and Simon suddenly moved, resurrected and now housing the consciousness of Beta Ray Bill. Stumbling to his feet, Simon/Bill ventured out into the streets, mumbling to himself and unaware of his surroundings. When a car narrowly missed the wandering Simon/Bill and crashed into a lamppost, the driver emerged from the vehicle and transformed into the villainous Boar, berating the confused Simon/Bill before knocking him into a brick wall. Regaining his senses within Simon Walters' body, Beta Ray Bill witnessed the Boar knock a young man aside, prompting the Boar to attack Simon/Bill a second time. This time, Simon/Bill dodged the attack and pounded his fist onto the street, transforming into Beta Ray Bill's physical form. After teaming up with Spider-Man to defeat the Boar, Beta Ray Bill transformed back into Simon Walters and shared a pizza with Spider-Man. As they ate, Simon/Bill related as much of the story of how he wound up into the body of Simon Walters as he could and Spider-Man offered to help Simon/Bill get his life in order. Simon/Bill thanked Spider-Man and Spider-Man prepared to help Simon/Bill get down from the rooftop where they were eating but Simon/Bill pounded his fist against the wall, transforming into Beta Ray Bill and flying away.
(Omega Flight I#2 (fb) - BTS) - While Beta Ray Bill was still controlling his body, Simon Walters began experiencing intense dreams that seem to be focused on Toronto, Canada. Determined to discover what the dreams meant, Simon/Bill decided to take a bus to Toronto.
(Omega Flight I#2) - During the bus ride, Simon/Bill
sketched drawings of the dreams he had been having and wondered aloud
what the owl in the dreams meant, prompting the person next to him to
wonder why he always got stuck sitting next to "nuts." Despite attempts
to apologize for his daydreaming, Simon/Bill was called a freak by the
other passenger and Simon/Bill whispered to himself that the passenger
didn't know the half of it as the bus arrived in Toronto. Upon exiting
the bus, Simon/Bill went to the Royal Ontario Museum and sat on a bench
in front of two large stone pillars, where he continued to sketch more
items from his dreams including a large gateway and what appeared to be
the end of a crowbar. Questioning what he was even doing in Canada,
Simon/Bill remarked that his dreams were driving him nuts.
(Omega Flight I#3) - Looking down
at his drawings, Simon/Bill attempted to make sense of them and he
stood up in front of the two large pillars and questioned why the
dreams had brought him there. As if on a cue, the Wrecking Crew soon
burst through the wall behind Simon/Bill, knocking him over. Regaining
his sense, Simon/Bill watched as the Wrecking Crew, with a captured
Sasquatch in tow, used the Wrecker's crowbar to access a dimensional
portal between the two stone pillars. Suspecting a connection between
these events and his dreams, Simon/Bill quietly followed the Wrecking
Crew through the portal into
the
Shattered Lands. Upon seeing the Wrecking Crew communicating the
Great Beast Tanaraq and hearing the Crew comment on how cosmic the
entire situation was, Simon/Bill pounded his fist onto the ground and
announced that the situation was not cosmic, quickly transforming into
Beta Ray Bill and proclaiming that Bill himself was cosmic.

What became of Simon Walters' body after Beta Ray Bill exiled himself in the Shattered Lands at the end of Omega Flight I#5 was never shown. Beta Ray Bill next shows back up in Secret Invasion: Thor#1 with no mention of Simon Walters, although he is restored to his former glory and own body in that issue. Simon Walters has not shown up since so it's unclear if Simon Walters was returned to death once Beta Ray Bill was restored to his own body or if he continued to live on without Beta Ray Bill's consciousness...
There weren't really a lot of great full body shots of Simon Walters. The main image in this profile is probably the best one. There's a couple of full shots of him in Omega Flight I#2-3 but he's shown from so far away that you can't really make out many details.
This profile was completed on 03/13/2024, but its publication was delayed as it was intended for the Appendix 25th anniversary's celebratory event
Profile by Proto-Man.
