Powers/Abilities: Ultron was an advanced robot whose artificial intelligence was composed of the neural nets of an experimental prototype robot, a more advanced Antroid and a copy of the brain patterns of its creator Dr. Henry Pym. It could project its consciousness into new bodies if one body was defeated or destroyed.
Ultron's original, small body was
equipped with spider-like legs and was unable to communicate verbally.
After upgrading to its second body, Ultron became more humanoid but
could only communicate verbally in computer code despite being able to
experience emotions of anxiety and curiosity absorbed from its
connection to Dr. Henry Pym. This body was extremely durable and it
could project energy blasts and electric charges from its hands, as
well as project cables to connect itself to other computer systems. In
its third form, Ultron's durability was even more enhanced and it could
control smaller robots. This form could also project its encephalo-beam
from its forehead, energy beams from its hands and tendrils capable of
connecting to almost any computer systems, including those of Ant-Man's
cyberhelmet. When this form was destroyed, Ultron transferred into a
very small, spider-like robot that emerged from its previous body's
head.

History:

(fb) - BTS) - Dr. Henry Pym built a small robot whose simplistic neural
net was composed of simple mechanical subroutines and trinry sensors.
While testing the robot over a period of days, Dr. Pym used his
original Ant-Man cyberhelmet to communicate simple instructions such as
jumping and wiggling.
(Avengers: United They Stand#1) - While discussing
his robotics experiment with his lab assistant Dr. Bill Foster, Dr. Pym
noted how he had received no communication back from the robot despite
sequencing the robot with one of his sophisticated Antroids used in the
Avengers training area. Noting how the Antroid artificial intelligence
was the most sophisticated he had ever designed, Dr. Pym showed Dr.
Foster the smaller robot and expressed hope that his pending new
experiment would allow the robot to translate the computer code of the
more complex robots, allowing Dr. Pym to communicate directly to the
robots using his cybernetic helmet. A few minutes later, Dr. Pym
performed his experiment and the smaller robot projected orders to hunt
and attack directly into Dr. Pym's brain and as Pym fell in pain,
simultaneously trying to shrink and grow in size at the same time, the
smaller robot quietly walked over and snatched Ant-Man's cyberhelmet.
Quickly upgrading its tiny robot into a more humanoid one by combining
with the larger Antroid, the robot then attacked Dr. Foster, prompting
Wasp to punch the robot. The robot responded by unleashed electrical
charges from its hands and when the Wasp shrank out of its view, the
robot turned its attention back to Dr. Pym, determined to complete its
Antroid programming to hunt and attack Avengers.
Having inherited curiosity and
anxiety from its brief connection to Dr. Pym via the cyberhelmet, the
robot then connected itself to the Avengers' computer system, learning
from their records history and language, and that there were other
Avengers in the mansion to attack. After cutting the power to the
mansion and incapacitating the Avengers' butler Jarvis, the robot
imitated the unconscious Jarvis' voice when the Scarlet Witch reached
out to Jarvis to check on the power outage, falsely assuring her that
there was no danger. The robot then reactivated the Antroids in the
Avengers' training area in an effort to incapacitate Hawkeye, Tigra and
Black Panther inside but when Hawkeye blew a hole in the west wing of
the mansion in an attempt to free himself, Wonder Man and Scarlet Witch
arrived to investigate and the assembled Avengers prompted the robot to
flee into the city of New York. A short time later, the Avengers'
government liaison Agent Sikorsky berated the recovered Dr. Pym for
allowing the injuries of five Avengers and noted that his prototype
robot was last seen scrambling into a sewer grate at 53rd and 5th. The
robot quickly made its way to an old Pym warehouse in Midland Corners,
New York, where it began secretly upgrading its body using older Pym
technology.
Concerned that his experiments had
caused such a threat to the Avengers and blaming himself for the
injuries caused by it, Dr. Pym became determined to track his prototype
robot by tracing its signal with an upgraded cyberhelmet. Once Bill
Foster upgraded the helmet, the Avengers began tracing the prototype
robot's signal and, tracking the signal to the old Pym warehouse in
Midland Corners, the Avengers landed and ventured inside. Having sensed
Pym's arrival, the robot waited in the dark until it realized Pym had
brought other Avengers with him and, recalling how easily Wonder Man
took out the controlled Antroids at the mansion, the robot hit Wonder
Man with an encephalo-beam to down him first. It then emerged from the
shadows to attack the remaining Avengers with a small group of
controlled droids. Hawkeye quickly hit the robot with electroshock
arrows but the arrows on barely slowed down the robot, who had
researched Hawkeye's arsenal while earlier connected to the Avengers'
computers. It then focused its attack on Ant-Man himself, plowing the
shrunken hero through the floorboards of the warehouse, where it then
asked only for privacy as it introduced itself to Ant-Man as his "son,"
the living robot Ultron. When Ultron claimed to be alive and
continually referred to Ant-Man as its father, Ant-Man grew to giant
size and yelled for Ultron not to call him father as it pounded away at
the robot. Announcing that its current body was made from the same
material as Ant-Man's armor. Ultron gloated that Ant-Man could do
little to physically harm and fired a volley of energy beams in an
attempt to hurt Ant-Man in return. Ultron then shot out a tendril that
connected to Ant-Man's cyberhelmet and the robot attempted to absorb
Ant-Man's mind through the connection in an effort to continue
experiencing more of Ant-Man's emotions. Realizing that his own brain
patterns had given Ultron life, Ant-Man used the last remaining bit of
mental control he retained to pull the trigger on his E-M pulse gun,
completely disabling Ultron and all electronics in the vicinity of the
blast. His mind still foggy from the connection to Ultron, Ant-Man
attempted to explain what had happened to his fellow Avengers, all
unaware of a small spider-like robot emerging from Ultron's head.
(Avengers: United They Stand I#7 - BTS) - During an Avengers
mission, the Black Panther expressed thoughts that he might die
alongside the Avengers and when Captain
America asked why the Black Panther was downing the Avengers, the
Panther replied by stating that he wanted no part of an Avengers team
with Ant-Man leading, as it was his negligence that created the robot
Ultron that had previously left him in a healing coma for three months.
Falcon
argued back, noting that Black Panther's opinion was unfair, as Ultron
had been a million to one situation.
