History:
(Ex-Mutants Special Consumer Electronics Show Edition#1 (fb) - BTS) - When he was still human, Sluggert was a television evangelist.

(Genesis#0/2 (fb) - BTS) - He was one of the most beloved televangelists in the world until his reputation was ruined by tax problems, sex scandals and a messy land deal with a senator.

(Ex-Mutants Special Consumer Electronics Show Edition#1 (fb) - BTS) - He was mutated into a horrible creature after the genetic bombs fell like rain and quickly became the leader of the mutants in the region and the head of Sluggtown. Sluggo was bent on killing all creatures that even vaguely looked human.

(Ex-Mutants II#2 (fb) - BTS) - Sluggo's influence in the area grew among other mutants leader and it became clear to Professor Kildare that he would soon control the entire region.

(Ex-Mutants II#1 (fb) - BTS) - Sluggo's slave patrol ambushed Tanya and her friends Ackroyd, Bud, Dillon, Josh, Piper and Shannon. Tanya was the only one that got away while the others were brought to Sluggtown.

(Ex-Mutants II#1 (fb)) - Sluggo and the denizens of Sluggtown watched gladiatorial games in the arena. Sluggo and the crowd loved it when one mutant bit off the head of another one in the arena. Sluggo ordered Zygote to bring out the next batch of slaves to the arena for entertainment before he grew bored. Sluggo was amused when this batch of mutants, which included Ackroyd, Bud, Dillon, Josh, Piper and Shannon, had to face a giant crab monster that had been eating a fishing boat when it was caught. Josh got killed quickly, but before any of the other mutants got killed, Professor Kildare, who had saved Tanya earlier, interrupted the battle in the arena, which angered Sluggo. Sluggo was even less amused when Kildare tossed the giant crab on him. Sluggo ordered Zygote to get him out of this dilemma, but Zygote was first looking for someone else he could blame. Kildare escaped Sluggtown with the group of mutants and later turned them into the human Ex-Mutants.

(Ex-Mutants II#1 (fb) - BTS) - <2055> Zygote and a group of mutants, including Bullwhip, where on their way to deliver more slaves to Sluggo, but they were attacked on their way to Sluggtown by the Ex-Mutants (Ackroyd, Bud, Dillon, Piper, Shannon and Tanya). Zygote was the only one able to escape.

Professor Kildare later asked the Ex-Mutants to raid Sluggtown because he received readings that showed that Zygote must have found an energy cell Kildare needed to keep operating. He told them to avoid the roads controlled by Sluggo and his patrols and Dillon suggested to head through Death Grove to get to Sluggtown.

(Ex-Mutants II#1) - Zygote returned to Sluggtown to report to Sluggo how a large group of humans had ruined Sluggo's steam wagon and that all slaves had escaped. Sluggo wasn't pleased because without this new batch of slaves his the completion of his monument would be delayed. He was slowly getting sick of Zygote's excuses and punched him in the face. Sluggo wanted to see the humans responsible dead by cutting out their hearts and Zygote liked the idea.

(Ex-Mutants II#2) - Sluggo watched as the construction of his monument continued. He still wanted the Ex-Mutants to die, which Zygote considered the correct choice and the women around him loved to hear like everything Sluggo said. Zygote once again explained to Sluggo that the monument would be a shining beacon and secretly make Zygote the most powerful man in the world through technology hidden inside it. Sluggo was amused when Zygote freaked out when a worker dropped a piece of machinery. Sluggo then sent the mutants El Motho, Brickhouse and Beefcake to capture the Ex-Mutants and promised to pay them after completing the mission.

(Ex-Mutants II#3) - The trio of mutants captured Bud, Dillon and Piper and returned with them to Sluggtown with mind control headbands placed on their heads. Sluggo welcomed his new slaves and then had them taken to the arena to make an example out of them. Sluggo reveled in Zygote's admiration for his great ideas, unaware that Zygote had plans of his own. Sluggo and the crowd watched El Motho, Brickhouse and Beefcake face off with the mind-controlled Bud, Dillon and Piper as soon as Sluggo dropped his handkerchief to start the battle when the crowd was properly excited. The battle was interrupted by the other Ex-Mutants Ackroyd, Shannon and Tanya and their new giant ally Joe. Once again angered by his entertainment getting interrupted, Sluggo ordered Zygote to do something about it. Sluggo wanted the Ex-Mutants to die and Zygote used his devices to pit the mind-controlled Ex-Mutants against their friends, but while Joe took care of Beefcake, Brickhouse and El Motho, Bud resisted the mind-control and hit Zygote's hand with his crossbow. Zygote dropped the remote for the mind-control headbands and it shattered on the ground. Sluggo swore that Zygote had failed him for the last time and left him behind to die while Sluggo pulled a lever to open a secret hatch to an escape tunnel that led to his monument. Sluggo soon reached the machine inside the monument, but the energy cell that kept the machine stable had been stolen by the Ex-Mutants. The monument exploded with Sluggo still inside.

(Ex-Mutants II#4 - BTS) - The mutants of Sluggtown were desperate for a new leader after Sluggo's death and found one in Nathaniel Gelson.

(Ex-Mutants II#10 - BTS) - At some point Bounty was hired by Sluggo to capture the Ex-Mutants alive. Bounty was shocked to learn from the Ex-Mutants' Dillon that Sluggo was apparently dead.

(Genesis#0/2 (fb) - BTS) - Sluggo somehow survived and ended up on Earth-1136 when Sluggtown was moved to that reality.

(Genesis#0/2) - He faced off with the Ex-Mutants once again and was warned beforehand by Dillon that they were not the same as they were when he last met them. Sluggo still swore to kill them even if he had to do it all by himself, but he had no chance against the newly empowered Ex-Mutants and their new allies Arc and Graveyard. After Arc hit him with an electrical blast and Graveyard nearly scared him to death, Ackroyd picked up Sluggo and tossed him into the air a few times, which Sluggo wasn't thrilled with because he was afraid of heights. He then got scared when Bud flamed on and even more when Shannon destroyed the ground around him with an energy blast, leaving only behind a pillar of stone Sluggo was standing on. The Ex-Mutants left Sluggo alive, but trapped on the pillar and he decided to say a prayer while his enemies left with a final warning by Dillon.

Ex-Mutants Special Consumer Electronics Show Edition#1 was an alternate version of Ex-Mutants II#1 with a few additional pages including character designs for all the main characters of the series and Sluggo.

According to Malibu Sun#19 (November, 1992) the full color Ex-Mutants reboot in 1992 was created as a tie-in to an Ex-Mutants Sega Genesis video game, which featured Sluggo as the final boss. Production of the video game and comic book started at the same time.

On Earth-29245 those mutated during the war were called mutants even though they were practically what we would consider mutates.
