Powers/Abilities/Functions: The Resurrection Lily has legendary and remarkable restorative powers, able to heal others with fatal wounds and presumably those with various types of diseases.

It blooms only once every 10 years, and it withers within a day.

History:
(Heroic Age: One Month To Live#4 (fb)- BTS) - The Resurrection Lily, legendary for its restorative properties, bloomed only once every 10 years in a specific location in the Savage Land, and it withered within a day.

(Heroic Age: One Month to Live#4 (fb) - BTS) - Hearing about the Resurrection Lily that bloomed in the Savage Land for only one day every 10 years, Mr. Scrath of Timely Pharmaceuticals sought to harvest it so Timely could synthesize its medicinal properties. He speculated that the financial rewards would be incalculable, and so would his bonus. Scath hired the mercenary Tag Team to retrieve it. He had his own man, Paul Taylor, supervise the team. After Timely's drones confirmed that there was a Resurrection Lily in bloom, Mr. Scath had the team land far from the Lily and hike to it in order to avoid alerting its protectors. resurrection_lily-1m2L4-treatkelly

(Heroic Age: One Month To Live#4 - BTS) - When the vastly superhumanly powerful Dennis Sykes was dying from cancer, Reed Richards contacted the Savage Land's Ka-Zar, who confirmed that there was a Resurrection Lily in bloom as of the morning.

Reed modified Dennis' Flux suit with medications and energy boosters able to make his stronger to handle the trip.

While he and Sue worked on other options to help Dennis, Richards had Wolverine (James Howlett/Logan) fly Dennis, his wife, Abbey, and their adopted daughter, Kelly, to the Savage Land.

Scrath called in to check on the Tag Team, who were gunning down small attacking dinosaurs, and Taylor assured Scrath they would complete the mission.

Alongside his saber-toothed tiger companion Zabu, Ka-Zar observed the Tag Team. Due to the group's superior numbers and fire-power, he instructed Zabu to wait for Richards' friends arrival. resurrection_lily-1m2L4-wither

After Wolverine and the Sykes family arrived, Ka-Zar told them that there was a Resurrection Lily in bloom at the top of the waterfall, but they had to act quickly.

Paul Taylor interrupted them, noting that it was actually his employer's Lily, and he instructed the Tag Team to kill them.

While Wolverine, Ka-Zar and Zabu took down the Tag Team, Kelly was mortally wounded, and Taylor held Abbey hostage and demanded that he be given the Lily.

Sykes used his powers to apparently temporarily petrify Taylor and the Tag Team (he assured the others that they were still alive).

(Heroic Age: One Month To Live#4) - Noting that the Lily had bloomed at dawn and that it was now almost sunset, Ka-Zar then scaled the nearby cliff, retrieved the Resurrection Lily, and brought it to Dennis.

However, Dennis instead used the Lily to save Kelly, despite her arguments to the contrary. He and Abbey assured Kelly that she was theirdaughter.

Comments: Created by John Ostrander and Graham Nolan.

Good call on Wolverine's part for supporting bringing Kelly to the Savage Land and promising to look out for her. She was mortally wounded, and Flux sacrificed his own chance at survival to save her. Abbey shouldn't have gone either, as she could have been wounded or killed, and she couldn't have done much to help in a conflict either.

With the revelation of the Resurrection Lily's existence, it makes me wonder why it wasn't used to save others in the past, like perhaps Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell). The real reason is that it hadn't been created in-story yet, but, of course, once it was used in story, it existed before that. Perhaps it was not effective against that alien cancer, or perhaps it just wasn't in bloom at that time. Thirty years in real time is perhaps 6 years in Marvel Time, so if it was in bloom in this story, it probably would not have been in bloom at the time of Mar-Vell's death.
However, perhaps each individual plant blooms every 10 years, but maybe that is based on when the seed is planted, meaning perhaps different plants may bloom at different times.
When Ka-Zar retrieved the Resurrection Lily, there looked to be two other flowers that just hadn't opened up yet. They were similarly colored, but it wasn't confirmed that the other flowers were Resurrection Lily.
Or, perhaps, there's really only one plant that blooms every 10 years...
