History:
(Fantastic Five I#4 (fb)) - As a child, Alyce was playing with her toys
when her parents Ben and Sharon got into an argument, as Ben was about
to go on a mission with the Fantastic Four against their enemy
Hyperstorm. Sharon was concerned for what would happen to Alyce and her
twin brother Jacob if Ben lost his life in battle but Ben insisted that
it was important he save the children's lives by fighting threats such
as Hyperstorm.
(Fantastic Five I#5) - The now-teenaged Alyce and Jacob came to Fantastic Five Headquarters to see their father, who had stayed behind to meet them while the rest of his teammates in the Fantastic Five were on an assignment. Alyce and Jacob met their father along with the Human Torch and Ms. Fantastic's son Torus. When Jacob decided to show off his superhuman strength to Torus by lifting a large piece of machinery, Alyce was annoyed and activated her powers, blasting the machinery into pieces. When their father stormed in and demanded they explain themselves, Jacob explained they were getting ready for their "audition." Alyce told Ben that she and her brother wanted to join the Fantastic Five.
(Spider-Girl I#86) - Now wearing a Fantastic Five uniform and using the alias "Rad" (while her brother used the alias "Grim"), Alyce joined her brother and Doom (Kristoff Vernard, who was also a member-in-waiting of the Fantastic Five) in a capture the flag game against Psilord and Spider-Girl while the rest of the Fantastic Five were in the Negative Zone. During the game, Rad tried to demonstrate how well she and Grim worked as a team but Spider-Girl easily dodged Rad's radiation blast then stole Grim's flag. Distracted by Spider-Girl, Rad's flag was claimed by Psilord. With the game finished, Rad accused Spider-Girl of laughing at her brother but Spider-Girl insisted she hadn't and Grim had taken no offense. When the Fantastic Five's old foe Apox the Omega Skrull escaped confinement at Mount Athena and headed towards the Fantastic Five Headquarters, Psilord ordered Rad and Grim to help evacuate the building and protect Torus while he and Doom faced Apox. Rad and Grim refused to abandon Psilord, noting their father raised them "better." Just as Spider-Girl returned to the Fantastic Five to offer her help, Apox burst into the building.
(Spider-Girl I#87) - Psilord again asked Rad and Grim to take Torus and flee but they refused and joined the fight. Unfortunately, Torus was younger and less skilled than the others and Apox captured him so he could learn where the rest of the Fantastic Five were located. Realizing Apox would seek access to the Negative Zone, Psilord told Rad and Grim to guard the building's portal to the Negative Zone. When Apox came to use the portal, Rad and Grim fought him and Rad fired a blast of radiation that seared through Apox's chest. Although it caused him pain, Apox was barely winded and grabbed Rad's leg then tried to crush her to death against a wall but Psilord rescued her. Grim tried to defend Rad but Apox overwhelmed all of them and used his Power Cosmic to hurl Rad from the building; she fell towards the street below.
(Spider-Girl I#88) - Having survived the fall, Rad returned to Fantastic Five Headquarters as Doom worked with the hero Nova to prevent a Solar Bomb planted by Apox from destroying the building. After Apox's defeat, the teens at Fantastic Five Headquarters received a message from the rest of the team in the Negative Zone, who revealed Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman were both back to active duty in the Fantastic Five, expanding the team's roster even further.
(Fantastic Five II#1) - Rad joined Grim, Doom, Psilord and Torus in the Fantastic Five's gym. Psilord was annoyed that each of them were engaging the gym's training robots on their own, rather than working together as a team. Psilord finally grew angry at the others for being reckless and lectured them that there would always be someone stronger than them and they needed to learn teamwork to survive. Sharon Ventura then arrived and Alyce depowered so she could hug her.
(Fantastic Five II#2) - Dr. Doom sent one of his Doombot replicas to attack the Fantastic Five in their headquarters. Rad and Grim told their mother to stay behind them for protection but she tried to keep them from getting involved, thinking it was too dangerous for them. The Doombot proved to have a portion of the Power Cosmic and used it to blast Grim out of the building. Fearing her brother was dead, Rad attacked the Doombot but his Power Cosmic deflected her radiation blasts and he used the Power Cosmic to restrain her energies. The Human Torch led the Doombot away from the building by taunting him to chase him. Rad thought her "Uncle Johnny" had deserted them but Mr. Fantastic explained to her that it was a distraction.
(Fantastic Five II#3) - The Invisible Woman tried to encourage Rad, Psilord and Sharon to leave their headquarters before the Doombot returned but Rad insisted on staying. Grim soon returned with Torus and Ms. Fantastic and they all agreed to stand together against the Doombot despite his superior power. Working together, the Fantastic Five imprisoned the Doombot with Mr. Fantastic's stasis ray but then the real Dr. Doom appeared, revealing that they had only been fighting a Doombot up until then and that he had another dozen Doombots that were likewise equipped with the Power Cosmic. Dr. Doom told Mr. Fantastic that he could choose his punishment: either Dr. Doom would have his Doombots raise Manhattan and hurl it into the sun or Dr. Doom would exile all of the Fantastic Five's children into space. Mr. Fantastic chose the latter. Placing Rad, Grim, Psilord and Torus into one of the Fantastic Five's spacecrafts, one of the Doombots towed them into outer space.
(Fantastic Five II#4) - As the four teens took stock of their situation, Rad opined that they were "totally trashed." Psilord had Grim and Torus remove the shielding from the ship's forward section so he would be exposed to cosmic radiation, hoping to increase his powers. Alyce noted Psilord already had cracked ribs from fighting the Doombot earlier but he insisted on taking the risk and sent the others into the rear of the craft, which was still shielded. When they emerged from the rear of the craft, they saw Psilord's gambit had paid off, as he gained vast new powers that he used to destroy the Doombot so they could return to Earth and save their family.
(Fantastic Five II#5) - Back on Earth, Rad, Grim, Psilord and Torus (in his "Super-Storm" alias) invaded Castle Doom in Latveria to save their family, battling the Servo-Guards stationed in the castle. When Torus suggested the four of them should form their own team, Rad revealed that she'd decided to go home to California with her mother when the fight was over, having decided life as a superhero wasn't for her. She asked Psilord if he would ever give up being a superhero but he admitted that it was the only life he'd ever known. When they saw a number of Doombots flying towards Castle Doom, the four teens realized their family must be where the robots were headed. The conflict was resolved when Mr. Fantastic and Dr. Doom engaged in a psychic contest that left both men's minds stranded across space and time, rendering them both comatose. Rad made good on her promise to return to California with her mother but her brother Grim officially joined the Fantastic Five alongside their father.

The endearing part of Rad's character is how protective she is of her brother; as becomes clear through her appearances, she never really wanted to join the Fantastic Five but thought her brother would do best if he were a superhero like their father.
