As part of Noname, he was willing to
contribute to the suffering of others to expose larger organizations
that had threatened and/or slain large populations of people. He was
experienced at least with a conventional rifle.
Bonded with Toxin, he possessed superhuman strength and durability, could leap into the air and alter his appearance and form to some degree. He was presumably vulnerable to sonic weapons and fire.
History:
(Venom V#27 (fb) - BTS) - Jack's mother died at some point. Jack was a man of simple pleasures, hardworking and decent and making his father proud. Though he had few complaints, he did consider his life somewhat small.
He had his job, his friends and the
local bar, as well as a number of women over time.
There was an "accident" from the local Allen Chemical plant and his father burned to death in his arms, and chemicals destroyed his town. Allen Chemical denied any wrong doing. Jack lost his will to live that day, and he spent the next months numb.
The organization Noname found Jack,
telling he was not Jack and never was in the eyes of those who had hurt
him. He was a number, a math problem, an insurance complaint. He was no
one to them.
As being Jack was now painful to him
and all things that had made him who he was were no longer made him
happy, he accepted when Noname convinced him that he didn't have to be
Jack anymore; he could be what he had always been: No One.
(Venom V#26 - BTS?) - Noname assaulted Toxin, injuring the symbiote and forcing it to split away from its host Bren Walters, whom they captured.
(Venom V#27) - Venom (Dylan Brock) located the weakened
Toxin symbiote, absorbing it into himself to preserve it. The Toxin
symbiote explained to Venom what had happened, and the information was
shared with the other local symbiotes via their hive mind means of
communication.
No One worked with another member of
Noname, posing as government workers, cordoned off the area where the
Toxin symbiote had been, claiming there had been a toxic leak.
Hearing a noise in the alley, he
investigated and was subdued by the symbiote Sleeper with the plan to
bring him to the Toxin symbiote and make him its host to allow it to
feed off his life force.
Joined by the Black Widow (Natasha
Romanoff, at the time bonded with the symbiote Sliver), brought No One
to Venom, who released the Toxin symbiote to bond with him. The man who
was once Jack did not resist, and he and the symbiote bonded, the grief
in one blending with the fury in the other.
The symbiote searched No One's mind for
Bren's location, but he did not know. With Toxin still too weak to track
Bren, Sleeper stayed with Toxin while Venom and Black Widow/Sliver
sought out Bren's father, who was involved with Alchemax (who Noname was
trying to force to admit their involvement in another toxin waste
spill).
(Venom V#27 - BTS) - Meanwhile, Noname broadcast as they filled a pool containing Bren and others with the contaminated waters that had killed many of their family members.
(Venom V#28) - Resuming his human form and Noname costume, No One joined five other members of Noname in the back of a van heading back to No name's base. As No One (Jack) held his head, another No One asked if he was OK, and he replied that he was feeling car-sick.
The van was stopped by members of an unidentified US government-sponsored mercenary group seeking to terminate Noname before they could expose Alchemax's activities. Via the hive, Toxin advised Venom that there was an unidentified third party involved.
While the rest of the Noname members were slain in the assault, No One (Jack) wondered why he wasn't dead, after which Toxin took over his form and -- joined by Sleeper -- took out the mercenaries.
As Toxin and Sleeper approached No
name's base, they witnessed more of the mercenaries killing two former
hostages released by Noname.
Toxin rushed into the building to save Bren while Sleeper and the arriving Venom protected Toxin from the mercenaries' weapons.
Arriving as Bren began to die under the
toxic waters, Toxin tore through a mercenary and then abandoned No Name
(Jack) and dove into the pool, narrowly saving Bren's life as Venom
pulled him out of the water, but leaving Toxin virtually inert.
(Venom V#28 - BTS) - No One (Jack) apparently remained in
No name's base as Sleeper and Venom departed with Bren/Toxin, and No One
apparently perished as the building went up in flames.
(Venom V#28 (fb) - BTS) - Bren/Toxin were brought to Flash
Thompson, whose Anti-Venom antibodies healed both Bren and Toxin.
