History: (The Ultimate Silver Surfer novel: A Game of the Apocalypse (fb) - BTS) - The hirsute humanoids of Nahl 3 were organized into tribal societies with a rigid caste system, relying on primitive weapons and valuing stealth; some individuals possessed a genetic gift for natural camouflage.

(The Ultimate Silver Surfer novel: A Game of the Apocalypse (fb) - BTS) - The species was driven to a chaotic global holy war by Morg, Herald of Galactus, who posed as the deity "Cirremon" and manipulated native religious leaders to incite mass slaughter, aiming to push the civilization to self-destruction to justify the planet's consumption. To do so, Morg manipulated religious leaders, especially High Evangel Moss, and impressed them with a holographic map at the Mount T'hurein tabernacle. The natives, believing they served a divine will, carried out brutal massacres against neighboring tribes, with allies becoming enemies overnight and entire villages -- including the peaceful Moriya tribe.

(The Ultimate Silver Surfer novel: A Game of the Apocalypse) - Investigating the chaos, the Silver Surfer intercepted Linnel Jen, a native manipulated into massacring his own tribe. The Surfer then impressed the locals with his unusual appearance and extraordinary capacities, and captured Field Evangel Liss Tavah, to be guided to the Mount T'hurein tabernacle. Once there, the Surfer destroyed Morg's holographic map and exposed the deception to Jen, Tavah and Moss. When Galactus' Worldship arrived soon afterward, the Surfer temporarily incapacitated Morg and seated Jen on the throne, claiming the native possessed the power of planetary redemption.

Expecting to shatter the Surfer's optimism, Galactus agreed to spare the species and instead feed on a nearby uninhabited world, giving the natives time to end the war without interference from Morg or the Surfer. Jen assumed leadership, issuing a global decree to cease all hostilities, with the intention of abdicating once peace was restored.

CLARIFICATIONS:
The race of Nahl 3 natives has no known connections to:

SEHR BURRA

Captain of the Aroyu warriors assigned to defend the northern perimeter of their camp. When the Silver Surfer appeared before the ranks and demanded that Field Evangel Liss Tavah accompany him, Burra ordered his soldiers to raise their spears to form a physical barrier between their leader and the stranger, and challenged the entity, accusing him of being a demon. The Surfer disintegrated the spears of Burra's men and defeated them all without harming them, causing Burra and his soldiers to prostrate themselves in recognition of a superior enemy. The Surfer then abducted Tavah.

FIELD EVANGEL DARRAH

A Field Evangel who participated in holy war campaigns. He reported to the High Evangel Moss that his forces were making slow progress against the supposedly blasphemous inhabitants of the village of Tinalss, but that Darrah was already using the inhabitants of Hierae as temporary allies, which satisfied Moss. Moss decreed that Darrah should indeed use Hirae to destroy Tinalss, but afterwards Darrah should destroy Hirae because its inhabitants had unholy blood.

LINNEL JEN

Linnel Jen (nicknamed by his father "Hediera han t'docit", translated as "A shadow among the trees"; he was also known as "Kedeira han n'rima", meaning "A shadow amongst our enemies") was a native of Nahl 3, a young hunter possessing a genetic gift for natural camouflage.

Initially wishing to become a hunter in his peaceful Moriya tribe, he was manipulated by a priest of the Cirremon religion (actually the Galactus-herald Morg posing as Cirremon) into joining a "holy war." Jen collaborated with Aroyu warriors to unknowingly, yet thoroughly, massacre Jen's own Moriya tribe (while believing he was fighting an unidentified godless enemy), including the torture and death of his father, then spent two and a half days chasing survivors. Consumed by guilt after he discovered the truth, he infiltrated an enemy camp for vengeance but was intercepted by the Silver Surfer, whom Jen initially took for a deity coming to judge him and as such Jen confessed his sins to the Surfer.

Recognizing Jen as a victim, the Surfer had Jen guide him to their leaders, following the trail to find High Evangel Moss and the god Cirramon, who were giving the orders, in Mount T'hurien (and also picking Field Evangel Liss Tavah en route). The Surfer and his companions found that "Cirremon" was really Morg, Herald of Galactus, who manipulated the natives to take the civilization in an autodestructive path that would make Nahl 3 fit for Galactus to consume. Temporarily beating Morg, the Surfer seated Jen on Cirremon's throne and had the two priests worship Jen, so that the Surfer could claim Jen had the power of planetary redemption and healing.

Galactus accepted to leave Nahl 3 to give the natives time to demonstrate they could stop their wars and redeem under Jen's leadership, with neither Morg nor the Surfer interfering. Even though Moss was skeptical of Jen's leadership skills, Jen immediately issued a global decree to end all hostilities, knowing it would not be universally accepted but intending to start making progress, and he ordered Tavah to use his diplomatic skills to contribute.

Nonetheless, Jen was unhappy with his position, which he only accepted as a way to purge his own transgressions. As such, Jen asked the Surfer -- if they succeeded in their quest for world peace -- to come back and destroy the throne so that Jen could return to his humble life.

LESSOM

An Aroyu sentry assigned to guard the northern perimeter of their camp, Lessom was considered fit for duty, but everyone knew he had fallen asleep on the job. He was the first to see the strange-looking Silver Surfer, with his even stranger abilities, whizzing past him at high speed, inches away, reflecting light like polished stone. Lessom reported this to his officer, Captain Fein Nehst, triggering a general alarm throughout the camp.

HIGH EVANGEL MOSS

Moss was the High Evangel and supreme leader of the religion of Cirremon, residing in the tabernacle carved into Mount T'hurein. She had come to believe that the world only came into being when the god drew the great holographic map on the floor of his cathedral. From the throne room, Moss orchestrated the global genocide: moving markers on the map and inventing contradictory and sadistic divine decrees, such as ordering temporary alliances followed by immediate betrayals, to keep the planet in a state of madness and self-destruction as she interpreted Cirremon's will (actually the Galactus-herald Morg posing as Cirremon without Moss or any of the natives knowing). When the Silver Surfer stormed into their sanctuary, accompanied by Field Evangel Liss Tavah and lowly assassin Linnel Jen, Moss challenged the Surfer, calling him a demon, but was forced to retreat when the Surfer destroyed the map with a beam of cosmic energy.

Following the appearance of the true leader, Morg, and the tremor caused by the arrival of Galactus' Worldship, Moss appealed to Morg, believing him to be her god Cirremon. However, Morg slammed her across the room against the throne and knocked her unconscious, revealing that he was not a god, but the architect of the planet's madness to prepare it for complete destruction. The Surfer had Jen sit on Cirremon's throne, claiming that Jen was the new god of Nahl 3 who could redeem the planet so that Galactus would give the planet a chance to survive. After being forced to kneel before Jen, Moss reacted with fury and cynicism, outraged that a low-caste assassin ruled over her and over her world, but Jen silenced her authoritatively by reminding her of her complicity and ordering her to use her network of messengers to proclaim the end of the war, an order Moss, defeated, eventually obeyed and complied with.

FEIN NEHST

A young captain in the Aroyu army, she was a devotee of Cirremon, Lessom's officer and one of Field Evangel Liss Tavah's most prominent field leaders. On the night the Silver Surfer's arrived to her camp, she answered the camp alarm and informed Tavah of the sighting of a swift, light-reflecting entity. Believing it to be a diversionary tactic, she reinforced the perimeters, inadvertently setting the stage for the confrontation between the Aroyu army and the Surfer.

FIELD EVANGEL RASHISS

Rashiss was a Field Evangel who led military forces in the name of the Cirremon religion. He reported to High Evangel Moss that his forces had suffered heavy losses but had ultimately succeeded in conquering the forges of the village of Erais. In response, Moss ordered Rashiss's forces to march east and destroy the village of Quetast.

FIELD EVANGEL LISS TAVAH

Liss Tavah was a Field Evangel and talented diplomat who developed the ability to maintain a "dream that wasn't quite a dream" to survive assassins during wartime. He was the spiritual architect who ignited Cirremon's spark in the lower castes and convinced them to fight in the global holy war. When the Silver Surfer arrived on Nahl 3 to investigate the chaos of the war, low-caste assassin Linnel Jen led him to Tavah's camp. The soldiers there tried to defend Tavah, but the Surfer defeated them without harming them, and then kidnapped Tavah, whom he interrogated to learn the structure of the war and to guide him to Mount T'hurien. There they found High Evangel Moss, who gave orders to the Field Evangels.

In the throne room, Tavah discovered that Cirremon was actually Morg, a Herald of Galactus, who was instigating the conflicts to destroy civilization and prepare for the planet's destruction. The Silver Surfer stunned Morg and named Jen the new god of the planet, forcing Tavah and Moss to worship Jen. Galactus agreed to give the natives a chance to end the local war and chaos, and if they succeeded, he would spare the planet. Jen then ordered the war to cease, and although he wished to punish Tavah for his crimes committed according to Cirremon's will, Jen instructed Tavah to use his diplomatic skills to establish and transmit global peace decrees, a mission Tavah accepted.
