Powers/Abilities: Moot can fly via insectoid
wings. His speed, distance and load-carrying abilities are unrevealed,
but he mostly just moved around in the local environment. He did appear
to be able to move quickly enough to dodge various energy blasts.
Moot at least claims to have genius
intellect, noting that "Reed Richards
pretends to be so intelligent, but compared to me, he is nothing more
than a child."
Mind control a large number of his insectoids (perhaps via being the leader of hive-like mentality), and he can telepathically others, including a super-genius such as Reed Richards.
His digits (fingers and thumbs, at
least) are clawed and can presumably be used as weapons.
History:
(Mutant X#2 (fb) - BTS) - Apparently native to
some alien realm within Reality-1298 (or possibly some alternate
reality), Moot led an expeditionary invasion force to Earth-1298,
breaching the dimensional barriers via an unidentified power source.
While investigating the "stuff" that holds the very fabric of reality together, Reed Richards detected the breach, which apparently was within or within relative proximity to the Baxter Building. Faced with Moot's insectoids, which threatened bystanders, the Fantastic Four -- who had not been empowered by cosmic radiation and instead wore exoskeletons granting them various abilties -- sent a distress call, which was received and answered by the Six.
Moot identified himself to the
Fantastic Four.
(Mutant X#2) - Moot floated
overhead, presumably allowing his insectoids to fight for him, as the
Six arrived. Sue Richards directed Johnny to project a wall of flame to
prevent Moot and his insectoids from getting to bystanders, and Reed
and Ben to launch a direct attack on Moot and keep him off-balance,
while she used her stealth armor to get around the insectoids and lead
the Six to them. After the Six joined the battle against the
insectoids, Reed shared what he knew about Moot and the invaders; Havok
advised Reed to keep a lower profile, as Moot seemed to be targeting
him directly. 
As the FF and the Six battled with
limited progress against the large number of insectoids, Moot became
annoyed with their inane chatter, and he advised them that their world
was on the eve of invasion. After he proclaimed that Reed Richards
would be the first to fall, "but your
brain will serve the greater good...,"
Reed extended his armor's limbs to place a band on Moot's head to
disrupt the neurotransmitters of his frontal lobe by utilizing an
irregular pulse of the lowest frequency on--, but Sue interrupted his
explanation and thanked him.
Ben subsquently closed some sort
of encasement around Moot, and Sue asked Ben to take Moot to Reed's lab
so that he could be interrogated. She elaborated that they would want
to be certain that Moot's access to their dimension was sealed off.
(Mutant X#2 (fb) - BTS) - While being examined, Moot took over Reed's mind and subsequently captured the rest of the Fantastic Four and bound them, sans armor, in manacles.
(Mutant X#2) - When Havok -- who, unbeknownst to the rest of the Six, was from Earth-616 and had unintentionally replaced his Earth-1298 counterpart -- visited Reed Richards to see if he could help return him to his native Earth, the Moot-controlled Reed was interested in his nature, considering that he could be a possible doorway or at least a key to dimensions far and wide, "a platform from which to carry an army forth across the Multiverse, but you'll have to be contained and dissected and..."
Havok was alerted that something was wrong with Reed, and Moot confirmed his control, telling Havok that once his insectoids bored into his mind he would be under his control, he continued that this would allow him to be the first to breach the Multiverse. Havok fled from the insectoids, hoping to locate the rest of the FF, only to find them all bound with Moot perched over Sue. Moot told Havok it was time for him to join his flock, that he could help him find his way home."Open your mind to me, mutant. Join me and we will move across the Multiverse."
Refusing
to join Moot on anything, Havok blasted him with a plasma bolt
to limited effect (or perhaps Moot dodged), and Moot advised him that
his lack of cooperation was of no real consequence as he would access
his mind, which he considered to be weak and to lack any psychic
barriers. Sensing a "weak link" in Havok's connection to Scotty
Summers, the son of Havok-1298 with whom he had started to bond, Moot
flew off, proclaiming that Scotty and Havok would both soon be his.
Havok then freed the bound FF members, who donned their armors and Johnny projected flames at Moot, who mocked him as a boy and his attack as an inconsequential energy source. However, Sue then smacked Moot with her armored hand, advising him that Johnny had just been a distraction, after which Havok dropped him with a dead-on plasma bolt. After Moot dropped to the ground, Havok mocked him as "Conqueror of Time and Space."
(Mutant X#2 (fb) - BTS) - Moot was subsequently sent to the Vault, and Reed Richards left it those present at that facility to contain him and discover if he was really what he claimed to be.

With the exception of Havok, who is from Earth-616, everyone else is from Reality-616...
I
thought I remembered that Moot was from that Reality's Negative Zone,
but I couldn't find any reference to that in the story.
I still think he could be some Arthrosian or
something, but, again, nothing to confirm that.
Moot's a pretty
low-level threat to be considering conquering worlds with superhumans
and certainly multiple dimensions...
Moot is in
Mutant X#12 in an image of those Havok had encountered on Earth-1298,
but it was as symbolic representation and not an actual appearance.

  The beings who accompanied Moot as part of his invasion force seemed to be mostly warriors of varying insectoid form, although there were also a number of smaller insectoids that helped Moot take mental control of others, apparently by boring into the mind of a target. --Mutant X#2 Note: Reed Richards considered them to be "nothing more than bio-mechanical life forms which feed on carbon-based..." <life forms?> |
