Classification: Extraterrestrial (Prysmos) mystical mirror

Creator: Unrevealed

User/Possessors: Whoever holds the mirror, notably Darkstorm, Galadria, Leoric, Mortdredd, Reekon

First Appearance: The Mystical Mirror of Prysmos (January, 1987)

Powers/Abilities/Functions: The Mirror of Prysmos has the power to audibly broadcast the inner thoughts and secrets of the person holding it and reflected on its surface. The mirror measures about 1.5' wide by 2' long (about 45 cm x 60 cm) with a handle at each side and a speaker grill at the top; it also appears to have an antenna, suggesting technology may have been added to the original mirror. The ancient mirror was imbued with mystical energy.

History:

(The Mystical Mirror of Prysmos (fb) - BTS) - The Mirror of Prysmos was created in Prysmos' first age of magic. The planet developed much later into a futuristic technological society but planetary catastrophe collapsed scientific advances and the people returned to a basic but feudal life and a reliance on magic, notably battles between the heroic Spectral Knights and the evil Darkling Lords. Although known to some, the mirror was lost.

(The Mystical Mirror of Prysmos) - Spectral Knight Galadria discovered the mirror by herself in a desert area. Picking it up, she was shocked the device spoke her thoughts: that the city of New Valarak shall become the bravest and truest city on Prysmos. Concerned about innermost thoughts being learned in dark times, she chose to take the mirror to the city for protection until freedom could be restored. But the nefarious Darkling Lord Mortdredd secretly watched her. He kidnapped her and took the mirror as prizes for evil leader Darkstorm. Nearby, the heroic Arzon used his mystical power staff to learn of the predicament and gave chase, fearing no one's thoughts would be safe. The mirror and Galadria were taken to Darkstorm's castle. The mirror revealed the Darklings Darkstorm, Mortdredd and Reekon desire to be rid of the others, with Mortdredd and Reekon wishing to also oust their leader. Shocked at the revelations, they claimed the mirror lied. Reekon asserted Galadria had brought the mirror to divide them. Meanwhile, Spectral Knights Arzon and Ectar rescued Galadria and returned home. However, the disunity among the Darkling Lords prompted Darkstorm to send Reekon to deliver the mirror to the New Valarak with a note that he hoped it would spread dissension among the Spectral Knights. But the Knights' leader Leoric was untroubled, believing that truth is not troublesome to those with noble thoughts. Leoric scolded Arzon and Galadria for challenging the Darklings alone, but the mirror revealed he was thankful for his brave knights returning safely.

The story is called "Mystical Mirror of Prysmos", so I guess that could be an alternative name.

The Visionaries' self-contained adventures all take place on the planet Prysmos and so can quite feasibly be considered Reality-616.

Marvel's comic series and books are based on the Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light animated television series from Sunbow Productions (1987) and the accompanying line of action figures from Hasbro.

Because this is a short children's book, there was no room to flesh out the mirror's relevance otherwise. It seems to be the only (or most powerful) mystical mirror on planet Prysmos.
