Powers/Abilities: McTavish possessed no superhuman abilities, but he possessed the knowledge, desire and funds to purchase the means to revive an ancient god/demon from the ocean's depths.

    His ultrasonic transmitter projected the verbiage necessary to raise the hidden city of the Fishmen to the surface.

    His cat was totally a bad-ass and apparently possessed the intelligence to perpetuate his plans.

History:

(Monsters Unleashed III#10 (fb) - BTS) - With the long term goal of raising the dread lord Uluath from his slumber beneath the ocean waters, McTavish founded headscroll.com to begin gathering followers, and those who chose to follow him became known as the group Happyology.

    He purchased an ultrasonic transmitter, calibrated it to communicate with Uluath in the city below the seas, and put out an invitation to his followers, who gathered aboard a large ship that he either purchased or rented.

(Monsters Unleashed III#10) - Holding his cat, McTavish preached to the green-robed members of Happyology about the coming rise of Uluath; he also advised them that the ultrasonic transmitter was astonishingly expensive and so their stock dividends were going to be down. He additionally advised them that their vestments (their cloak/robe/outfits) contained the microphones and their hearts had the words, and that now they should bow and sing.

    At his instruction, the crowd began to chant "Hryl'g'hurugh Ntar'l'hagopep," the holy words of waking, but one of them remained standing and approached him. McTavish questioned if this person did not want to witness the rising and to see the dread lord tear down this world to build a new one.."or do you just have that thing about singing in public, which, like, I totally get."

    After the monster-hunter Elsa Bloodstone dropped her cloak and attacked the cultists, McTavish put down his cat, which apparently manned the ultrasonic transmitted, and -- recognizing his enemy -- asked how she had gotten on this boat, thousands of miles from anything. Elsa replied, "With great difficulty and considerable skill."

    Dismissing her involvement and dispatching of the cultists, McTavish told her that while he would have preferred to have done this live, digital recordings of the holy words of waking would do just as well.

    As McTavish rushed for the ultrasonic transmitter, however, Elsa hurled a bola that wrapped his leg and dropped him to the ground a few feet short of his weapon.

    Nonetheless, his cat, with an apparently knowing "Mrow." pushed forward the lever on the device and activated the recorded chanting, which projected from the ship at great volume.

    Soon after, ancient ruins rose from the depths and surrounded McTavish's ship, after which the "Fishmen" denizens of the depths who apparently worshipped Uluath emerged and confronted Elsa.

    Kid Kaiju and his monster Aegis arrived to help, but when Aegis stomped on the ground multiple times while squishing the "Fishmen," the resulting vibrations proved sufficient to awaken Uluath. As the risen lands rumbled, McTavish proclaimed, "Behold the hands of providence -- the giant robot has awakened Uluath. Our time is upon us!"

    As Uluath emerged, shattering the land around him, McTavish continued, "Hail Uluath! Hail the destroyer! Hail --" but he was silenced as Elsa rushed by punched him out, noting, "Oh, do shut up."

    As Kid Kaiju and Elsa fled, McTavish's cat leapt atop Kei's shoulder, scratching him, and then dove at Elsa, who turned to meet the challenge. As the cat continued to scratch Elsa's face as she fought down McTavish's cultists and the Fishmen, Kei manipulated the ultrasonic transmitter to project the chant in a different fashion that somehow weakened or at least distracted Uluath, allowing Aegis to punch and incapacitate the dread lord. And, Elsa restrained the cat in her arm.

    McTavish and his cat were tied up, and although they both vocalized through their mouthgag, Bloodstone mocked them and planned to deliver them to the local authorities.

   This profile was completed 03/30/2026, but its publication was delayed as it was intended for the Appendix 25^th anniversary 's celebratory event.

• McFIDDISH, SANDY - the Scottish greens keeper at Bushwood in the movie Caddyshack...I thought his last name was Mc- or MacTavish, but apparently not...
• other McTavish or "MacTavish" characters, groups, items, events, races or places...

Apparently just McTavish's pet cat, it was totally on board with the plant to revive Uluath, and it acted with purpose, possibly suggesting high-level training and/or perhaps human-level intelligence.     It was more than willing to attack humans, and it could even hold its own against superhumans such as Elsa Bloodstone. Note: This cat was my favorite part of the story. It's a total bad-ass. I don't care if we see McTavish again, but I would like to see this cat again!      I do wish they had given it a name!
