History:

(Generation X I#51 (fb) - BTS) - LeGault came to work for Hunter Brawn, assuming the role as the corrupt business man's primary enforcer and bodyguard.

(Generation X I#50 (fb) - BTS) - Brawn sent some of his men to the Massachusetts Academy to kidnap his grandson Tristan who had been enrolled there. Brawn's forces took the boy and left via helicopter, but Banshee noticed the abduction and chased the helicopter all the way to Vermont.

(Generation X I#50) - LeGault guarded the Vermont estate to which Hunter Brawn's helicopter had taken Tristan. Banshee approached through the surrounding woods, figuring he would not be detected. LeGault surprised him from behind and knocked the sonic mutant unconscious with a single blow. He then mocked Banshee for disregarding the posted no-trespassing signs.

(Generation X I#50 - BTS) - Banshee was taken prisoner inside the ranch.

(Generation X I#51) - LeGault joined Hunter Brawn and several guards as Brawn interrogated the bound Banshee. Asked whether their captive had failed to hear the same question the first five times, LeGault allowed that anything was possible but suggested Banshee was simply too stupid to appreciate the gravity of his situation. Brawn angrily ordered him to make another attempt. When Generation X infiltrated the property to rescue their headmaster, LeGault donned his black-and-yellow battle attire and accompanied Brawn and the guards in confronting them. As Brawn engaged the young mutants in his energy armor, LeGault battled Banshee and the students. He seized M and Jubilee under his arms before their teammates renewed the attack, and he continued fighting until Brawn threatened to break Chamber's neck and negotiated an end to the hostilities. After Brawn produced Tristan and allowed the boy to return to school, LeGault privately asked why his employer had let his grandson leave with the intruders. Brawn rebuked LeGault for misjudging the students as children rather than fighters and explained that Tristan would eventually inherit his multi-billion-dollar criminal empire. Brawn believed training alongside super-powered youths would teach Tristan the strength and ruthlessness he required; LeGault agreed with the plan.

(Generation X Annual 1999 (fb) - BTS) - Tristan Brawn and Paige Guthrie grew close during their time at the academy. During a school break, he invited her to join him at his grandfather's Vermont estate.

(Generation X Annual 1999) - LeGault rode with Brawn at the Vermont ranch while Tristan and Husk exercised the horses. After the students departed, Brawn summoned LeGault closer and confided that he disliked Tristan's relationship with Husk, declaring that women made men weak and that Tristan needed to become strong and even ruthless before he could ever inherit the family.

(Generation X Annual 1999 (fb) - BTS) - Jubilee had learned that Hunter Brawn had ordered her parents' murders years ago and infiltrated his Vermont compound to gather evidence.

(Generation X Annual 1999) -  LeGault intercepted the young mutant, already wearing his signature combat armor. He blocked her plasma bursts with a solid-energy shield, created a chained energy mace and attacked. LeGault kicked Jubilee down, caught her and held her upside down, but Banshee and several members of Generation X arrived on the scene to help out. Banshee briefly knocked LeGault over, leaving him open for the young mutants' attack. With her teammates keeping LeGault occupied, Jubilee was free to have her final confrontation with Hunter Brawn.

Comments: Created by Jay Faerber, Terry Dodson and Rachel Dodson.

The nature of LeGault's energy wielding abilities is never addressed in the comics, leaving some to speculate he might be a mutant. However, his co-creator Jay Faerber was kind enough to confirm to the Appendix that LeGault's abilities are entirely artificial. Faerber also verified that 'LeGault' is the character's last name. Faerber had no hand in creating LeGault's look, crediting either the Dodsons or Greg Schigiel. He felt the design looked cool and reminded him of an Eternal or Inhuman suit. Just why an enforcer for a two bit Vermont crimeboss would dress like that is probably a question for the ages. The costume is memorable, though...
