History:

(Thor I#280 (fb) - BTS) - Lonni Lattimer worked as a newspaper columnist alongside cartoonist Mark Milton. She also encountered the hero Hyperion (unaware Mark Milton was his secret identity). Hyperion spoke to her of the Squadron Supreme's adventures on another world (Earth-616) and the Avengers, that planet's greatest heroes. Although other people such as Thor recognized Hyperion and Mark Milton as the same person, for some reason Lonni never made the connection.

(Thor I#280) - On the set of a movie being made about Hyperion, Lonni was surprised to see Mark in the company of the hero Thor (unaware this "Mark" was actually an evil construct of Hyperion). Lonni recognized Thor from Hyperion's stories and went to speak with him, flirting with the thunder god while talking up her friendship with Hyperion - although she remembered the Avengers as "the Revengers." As "Mark" left to adopt his Hyperion identity, Thor and Lonni were menaced by Hyperion's scientist foe Emil Burbank. Burbank was spirited away by the evil Hyperion, whom Lonni and Thor took to be the real Hyperion.

Thor saved Lonni from a falling light on the set, impressing her by his show of strength. Just then the Squadron Supreme arrived and Hyperion was livid to see Thor making time with the woman he loved. Lonni was surprised to hear Hyperion admit this. As Thor swung Mjolnir to repel the Squadron Supreme it caused a blowback of wind which knocked Lonni to the ground. The battle stopped as Thor and Hyperion checked to see that Lonni was all right. As they calmed down and compared stories they realized the other Hyperion was the evil counterpart and Lonni warned Hyperion that Emil Burbank was involved. Just then, the other Hyperion and Burbank attacked the movie set with a robot Burbank had built. Thor and the Squadron Supreme easily defeated the two villains.

(Squadron Supreme I#1) - After the Squadron Supreme had been unwilling pawns of Null the Living Darkness in his dictatorship over Earth-S, law and order was disrupted. Lonni took to carrying an automatic rifle for her own protection. As the Squadron Supreme began to set matters aright, Hyperion returned to Cosmopolis. Flying into Lonni's apartment through the window he was greeted by automatic fire from Lonni. Realizing who she had fired at Lonni stopped and apologized to him. Hyperion informed Lonni he was about to abandon his secret identity and wouldn't be Mark Milton any longer. He further observed that due to his non-human biology there was never much hope that they could be together as a romantic couple. Heartbroken, Lonni told him to leave her apartment.

Lonni is naturally a counterpart to DC Comics' Lois Lane, even as Hyperion is the Squadron Supreme's equivalent of Superman. Appropriately, Wayne Boring was a noted Silver Age Superman artist.

Don and Maggie Thompson created the magazine Comic Buyer's Guide; Thor I#280 was a rare instance of them creating a comic book story.
