(fb) - BTS) - In eighth grade, Silent Bob won a science fair by turning
his mother's personal massager into a CD player.
(Clerks film) - Jay and Silent Bob became marijuana dealers and were frequently loitering outside the Quick Stop Groceries store in Leonardo, New Jersey.
(Dogma film) - Jay and Silent Bob encountered God, who appeared to them as a woman looking exactly like the singer/actress Alanis Morissette.
(Daredevil II#1 - BTS) - Jay and Bob's name were spelled in braille on speed dial keys on Matt Murdock's telephone.
(Daredevil II#4 - BTS) - Jay and Bob provided reviews that were printed on the cover of The Catcher in the Rye. Jay's review stated "Too many words, man," while Silent Bob's review consisted only of a series of dots.
(Daredevil II#7 (fb) - BTS) - At some point, elements of Jay and Silent Bob's lives were adapted into live-action films. Mysterio (Quentin Beck) had in his collection of special effect props realistic face masks of their likeness.
(Daredevil II#7) - Mysterio showed images of Jay and Silent Bob to Daredevil (Matt Murdock) alongside scenes from Jaws, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope and The Terminator.

(Jay & Silent Bob: Jays of Future Past#1 (fb) - BTS) - Jay and Silent Bob decided to set up a memorial for Dante. Around the same time, Silent Bob produced a new herbal strain that they called Jay and Silent Bob's Banana Hammock. They commissioned a statue of Dante from Alicia Masters.
(Jay & Silent Bob: Jays of Future Past#1 - BTS) - Kang the Conqueror informed Doctor Doom that Silent Bob posed an existential threat to Doom's own future, which prompted Doom to place a $1,000,000,000 bounty on Bob's head.
(Jay & Silent Bob: Jays of Future Past#1) - In front of their assembled friends and associates, Jay and Silent Bob unveiled the statue of Dante outside of Quick Stop. The ceremony was interrupted by an attack of the Doombots, from which Jay and Silent Bob were rescued by the Fantastic Four. Anticipating more Doombots, the Fantastic Four took Jay and Silent to the Baxter Building in the Fantasti-car. Reed Richards scanned them for multiversal infections, only to confirm that Jay and Silent Bob were native residents of Earth-616. This puzzled Reed, as it left no obvious reason as to why Doctor Doom would be targeting the duo, forcing him to conclude that Jay and Silent Bob were somehow a threat to the timeline.
A Sentinel crashed into the Baxter Building, piloted by Magneto who was accompanied by the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. They demanded Jay and Silent Bob be handed over to them and attacked the Fantastic Four, who in turn received support from the X-Men. Jay and Silent Bob were webbed away from the fighting by Spider-Man (Parker) who attempted to take them to safety but was intercepted by Deadpool. Deadpool told Jay and Silent Bob about the bounty and held them at gunpoint but was crushed by the Hulkbuster Armor piloted by Iron Man who arrived with the rest of the Avengers. Silent Bob shocked them by casually lifting Thor's hammer Mjolnir, and the Avengers took him and Jay to the Sanctum Sanctorum in a quinjet.
Doctor Strange found nothing unusual
about the pair either and decided to look for answers in the Multiverse.
After browsing several realities where Jay and Silent Bob became
costumed heroes, Doctor Strange learned about the possible future of
Earth-67251, in which Banana Hammock transformed the world into
a peaceful utopia, inadvertently leaving it utterly defenseless against
the alien invaders.
Doctor Doom arrived with an army of Doombots, and the Avengers barely held them back outside the Sanctum while Doctor Strange destroyed Banana Hammock to prevent it from becoming popular. Strange then prepared a spell to erase Jay and Silent Bob from everyone's memories to safeguard them against future attempts on their lives. Jay protested that he had a daughter and pleaded for Strange to change the spell to alter the memories of everyone except people from New Jersey, to which Strange agreed.
(Jay & Silent Bob: Jays of Future Past#1 (fb) - BTS) -
The moment the spell was completed, everyone immediately forgot what
they were fighting about and went home. Doctor Strange, who was already
home, mistook Jay and Silent Bob for delivery workers and gave them the
tips.
(Jay & Silent Bob: Jays of Future Past#1) - Jay and Silent Bob returned to the Quick Stop, where Jay relayed everything that had happened to Millie, to her utter disbelief. Jay complained about how nobody knew of or believed their sacrifice when a voice sounded from above. It belonged by Ms. Marvel, resident superhero of Jersey City, who both heard Jay's story and had not been affected by Doctor Strange's spell. She gave Jay and Silent Bob words of encouragement and thanked them for saving the world before leaving. Millie, Jay, and Silent Bob then walked into the sunset.
(Giant-Size Amazing Spider-Man II#1/2) - Jay and Silent Bob watched as Spider-Man (Parker) swung away after defeating Mysterio.
(Wolverine VIII#13) - Jay and Silent Bob were at the Trattoria Angelo restaurant in Chicago where Wolverine was meeting with Donna Angelina Andiamo.
(Uncanny X-Men VI#28) - Jay and Silent Bob were at a comic convention in Rosario, Argentina where Wolverine and Ransom (Valentin Correa) stopped an attack by the Word of Strength cult.
(Venom#250) - Jay and Silent Bob walked past Mary Jane Watson while she was talking to her symbiote, Venom.
(Fantastic Four VIII#5) - Jay and Silent Bob walked past a bank in which the Invisible Woman worked to prove the innocence of Black Cat (Felicia Hardy).
(Iron Man VII#3) - Jay and Silent Bob were at a fair and saw Tony Stark on a date with Luna Lucia.
(Amazing Spider-Man VII#28) - Jay and Silent Bob were caught in the middle of Spider-Man's fight with Titania (Mary MacPherran) and Absorbing Man (Carl Creel).
(Alias: Red Band#3) - Jay and Silent Bob walked into a bodega in which Jessica Jones was buying a non-alcoholic drink.
(Ultimate Impact: Reborn#1) - Jay and Silent Bob stood underneath a lamppost when Spider-Man (Miles Morales) emerged from a portal during his fight with Spot (Johnathon Ohnn).
Comments: Created by Kevin Smith. Jay and Silent Bob, portrayed
respectively by Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith, first appeared in Smith's
1994 directorial debut film Clerks. Since then, they have
appeared in multiple feature films, in addition to comic books, video
games, and animated series. The setting of Kevin Smith's films is known
as View Askewniverse, but Jay and Silent Bob also had cameos in other
properties, including the Scream film series, The Flash
(2014) television series and DC Comics' Green Arrow III#6 (2001). This
profile covers Jay and Silent Bob's appearances in the Marvel Comics,
only including events from View Askewniverse films that were explicitly
referenced in Jays of Future Past#1.
They show up as Jedi in Star
Wars: Tag and Bink Were Here, and met Archie Andrews and friends in
Archie Meets Jay & Silent Bob. This last is notable because it could
conceivably be 616 and the version of Archie and co. last seen in Archie
Meets the Punisher; unlikely, certainly not the intention of the
writers, but within the bounds of possibility.--Loki
Kevin Smith as a comic book writer had also contributed to other Marvel Comics, and his debut run on Daredevil II#1-8 (1999) contains numerous references to his films. The references continue even after David Mack takes over as the writer with issue #9:
On their own, these references only
indicate that Kevin Smith the filmmaker and his films exist on
Earth-616, featuring the characters of Jay and Silent Bob, which is the
same case as in our Earth-1218. Their names being listed in various
places could initially be treated as mere easter eggs, but with the
added context of Jays of Future Past#1 must be attributed to Jay and
Silent Bob themselves. One remaining oddity is the "Bob and Jay Destroy
Japan" movie poster - it appears in the scene where Quentin Beck is
either still a teenager or a young adult at most. With or without the
Sliding Timescale, that film would have been made too far in the past to
either feature or be based on Jay and Silent Bob of Earth-616. It is
thus not included in the main body of the profile.

While I concur that it likely counts as a topical reference,
it could be based on 616 Jay and Silent Bob, given they live in a
reality that has time travel and any number of means that could allow
them to be around years earlier than their seeming age would permit.

Determining the exact degree to which
Kevin Smith's films are canonical to Earth-616 raises interesting
questions, as they reference Marvel superheroes as pure entertainment
media, not as something happening in the world outside the window. The
live-action films also cover a span of almost 30 years, which due to the
Sliding Timescale far exceeds the duration of the active Heroic Age,
thus making the references to Marvel in the earlier films anachronistic.
Nevertheless, Kevin Smith took special effort to establish that Jay and
Silent Bob are native vagabonds of Earth-616, not the Crossover
Earth-7642 or some other alternate reality, and thus events of his films
must have occurred in some form on Earth-616 while also being adapted
into popular films. Whether this also applies to other View Askewniverse
such as the animated series and video games remains to be seen - Silent
Bob's real name was revealed as "Robert Blutarsky" in Clerks: The
Animated Series (2000), but that name had not been incorporated
into the live-action films.

Kevin Smith has confirmed that is the case, but also that it isn't
Silent Bob's canonical name, as he'd "never give Silent Bob a last

The first double-spread featuring Jay and Silent Bob also features a crowd of other characters from their films. Notably, across the View Askewniverse films many actors portray more than one character, in some cases up to four, while some also appear as themselves. This makes identification of characters based on the actors' likeness an imprecise science, open to future corrections. Characters bearing the likeness of actors Ben Affleck and Jason Lee definitely appear more than once within the same crowd.
The exact placement of Jays of Future Past#1 in the Marvel Universe chronology is somewhat unclear. It was preceded by Jay and Silent making cameos across nine different comics as part of then-contemporary 2025-2026 storylines. However, the status quo at that time leaves no room for Doctor Doom to engage in active villainy or for Magneto to lead the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Bizarrely, the cameo legend at the end of Jays of Future Past#1 also gets multiple issue numbers wrong. The conclusion here is to place the events of Jays of Future Past#1 at some undetermined point in the past, prior to the more recent cameos.
A fair
few sites say Jay's full name is Jason Derris, and the brother of another
character in the franchise. This allegedly comes from comment Jason Mewes
has made in the past, and he may well have said that, but despite that
it's not the character's name. Kevin Smith explains it in an interview he
did for Ain't It Cool News back in 2001:
Mysterio and Kevin Smith discuss deep thoughts about the crucial issues facing mankind on this...
"What
would have been revealed, had we done a movie called NAME, which we were
going to do at one point, was that Jay and Rick Derris were brothers.
Jay’s last name was going to be Jay Derris and it was going to out in
that movie, but we never made the movie. So no, they’re not related."
