Powers/Abilities: Don Gorman was an exceptional fighter who could use two pistols simultaneously and pilot any aircraft. He developed multiple aeronatuics inventions, including the Gorman Super-Charger Engine, which enabled planes to reach nearly the speed of sound (approximately 770 mph) and an electromagnet capable of tracking the Gorman Super-Charger.

History:

(Daring Mystery Comics I#4/6 (fb) - BTS) - Dor Gorman was a secret agent of the U.S. Secret Service who worked undercover as a test pilot and inventor for the National Aero Company. He built a new airplane engine called the Super-Charger Engine. Gorman was also engaged to Betty Nestor, a stewardess with the All-State Airlines.

(Daring Mystery Comics I#4/6) - Gorman caught a Nazi spy trying to steal the plans to his engine. When the Nazis sent their purchasing agent Anson Dictor to buy the engine, Gorman and National Aero's general manager Chester Orsen met with Dictor. Dictor advised Gorman to sell his engine to the Nazis to avoid further trouble but Gorman insisted he would only turn the engine over to the U.S. Government once his tests were complete. Orsen advised Gorman to reconsider.

    As Gorman continued to test the engine he determined short hop flight weren't sufficient. Orsen offered to use his connections with All-State Airlines to install the engine on all 100 planes in All-State. Gorman agreed but the first All-State plane to use the experimental engine disappeared after leaving Los Angeles, with Betty Nestor aboard. Gorman flew to Washington D.C. and met with the Secret Service, who noted that 25 of the 100 All-State planes had vanished. The head of the Secret Service put Gorman in charge of hte investigation and he flew back to his factory but one he exited his plane, Gorman was jumped by four Nazi agents who knocked him out.

    The remaining All-State planes disappeared as Gorman remained a captive of the Nazis spies. When his guards left him alone with a bomb, Gorman used the flame of a candle to burn through the ropes he'd been bound in, then broke out of the cabin before the bomb went off. Heading back to National Aero, Gorman radioed the Secret Service to send reinforcements as he used an electromagnet to track the missing All-State planes from his own aircraft.

    Gorman followed the missing planes to an airfield where they were being readied by Dictor and Orsen to be flown across the ocean to Germany. Wielding two pistols, Gorman took Dictor and Orsen prisoner and his reinforcements helped him round up the other Nazi spies and liberate their prisoners.
