History:

(D.P.7 I#29 (fb) - BTS) - Deadweight, like most other paranormals, manifested his paraabilities following the White Event (July 22, 1986). He used his parability to assist him in a career as an assassin and became known to C.I.A. agent Irene Dobish. When Dobish was involved in a scandal after her agents Jenny Swensen, Stephanie Harrington, Charlotte Beck and Merriam Sorensen were caught spying on presidential candidate Philip Nolan Voigt, Dobish was reassigned to South America by the agency as punishment. On her way out of the USA, Dobish telephoned Deadweight, speaking to him as "Lilac." Dobish ordered him to assassinate Swensen, Harrington, Beck and Sorensen.

(D.P.7 I#29) - Deadweight set up a position in an apartment in Soho across the street from where his four targets lived. As Stephanie Harrington came towards the apartment with her three children Ben, Emily and Jill, Deadweight used his parability on Stephanie, causing her to become incredibly heavy, pressing her against the sidewalk. Because Stephanie had superhuman strength she resisted the effects of Deadweight's parability but couldn't rise from the sidewalk and began to experience what felt like a heart attack. Stephanie's friend and fellow paranormal Randy O'Brien came to help Stephanie. Deadweight fired at Stephanie with his sniper rifle but accidentally hit Randy instead. Randy sent out his Anti-Bodies to find out who shot him. Deadweight abandoned his sniper rifle; although he encountered two of Randy's Anti-Bodies while fleeing the building, the Anti-Bodies didn't recognize him as the shooter. Heading to the street, Deadweight saw Randy flying away with Stephanie to obtain medical help; Deadweight decided against stopping them because he didn't want a fight with Randy, whose parabilities he hadn't been briefed about. Deadweight resolved to wait until the other women were dead before following-up on Stephanie.

Deadweight waited in an ally outside the apartment and saw Swensen go up into the building. When Beck likewise went inside he decided to strike while the two of them were together, rather than wait for Sorensen and risk having to fight three paranormals at the same time. Deadweight reached their apartment door just as Swensen opened the door, intending to search for the person who shot Randy. Deadweight immediately used his parability on Swensen, forcing her to the floor; he drew his revolver, intending to shoot her while she was helpless but she smashed through the floor and fell into the apartment beneath. Deadweight shot Swensen in the back three times then turned to Beck, but Beck used her parability to make the floor slippery; because the floor wasn't level, both of them slid across the floor and Beck kicked Deadweight through the hole in the floor Swensen had made. As Deadweight struggled to retrieve his revolver, Swensen revived and struggled with him. Deadweight forced Swensen and Beck to the ground.

Having previously failed to puncture Swensen's steely skin from a distance, Deadweight prepared to fire his revolver into her head at point blank range, when the women's friend Dave Landers burst into the apartment. At the same time, Beck used her parability to jam the revolver so it wouldn't fire. As Dave approached him, Deadweight tried to force him to the ground but Dave resisted him; even as Deadweight increased the pressure of gravity on Dave, Dave continued to move towards him. Suddenly, from the apartment above, Stephanie's son Ben had taken the sniper rifle Deadweight had abandoned and Ben fired it into Deadweight's left hip. Deadweight collapsed and the effects of his parability faded. Swensen interrogated Deadweight but he only knew his employer as "Lilac." Dave called an ambulance for Deadweight and he was sent to Bellevue hospital. The C.I.A. subsequently opened up an investigation into Irene Dobish to determine whether she'd paid Deadweight with agency funds.
