History:
(Champions I#6 (fb) - BTS) - Amos Crawley's client
Stuart Clarke granted him power of attorney.
(Champions I#6 (fb) - BTS) - Clarke showed Crawley sketches of an exo-skeleton he had designed to revolutionize modern police work.
(Champions I#5) - After Stuart
Clarke threw his unpaid bills into the air in frustration, Amos told him
that such a childish display would not accomplish anything and that he
could only solve the problem by paying them.
Crawley further advised Clarke that he had numerous debts, including the government, his sub-contractors, and himself, his lawyer. Additionally, Amos noted that if Clarke had sold out two years ago, he could have been a rich man, but now he had to declare bankruptcy.
Calling Amos a spineless worm, grabbing him by the lapels and slamming him up against the wall, Stuart told him that he had put his soul into Clarke Futuristics and he could not sell his soul to some corporation. As Crawley had been handling his finances, Clarke blamed him for this problem and asked why he had not planned for the recession.
Shoving Crawley back into his chair, Clarke told him to consider himself fired and told him that he would get in touch with him the next time he wanted a dream destroyed. Clarke further told him not to worry about his creditors as he would find a way to pay them all back.
(Champions I#5 - BTS) - Desperate to gain additional funds, Clarke donned his exo-skeleton, which had lost out on the contract to Stark West, and he adopted the alias rampage and robbed a bank. This led to a conflict with the Los-Angeles-based Champions.
(Champions I#6 - BTS) - After injuring the Champions' ally Ivan Petrovich, Rampage escaped, although his armor was virtually exhausted.
(Champions I#6) - Seeing footage of Rampage (as Clarke's armored form had been identified by the police), Crawley recognized this as the exo-skeleton of which Clarke had shown him sketches. He appreciated that this was the means through which Clarke was going to pay back his creditors, and he prepared to call the police to pay back Clarke for firing him that morning. Pleased with himself, he stated, "Never let it be said that Amos Crawley isn't a public-spirited attorney."
(Champions I#6 - BTS) - Crawley's call led to police confronting Clarke at Clarke Futuristics, and he accidentally harmed an officer while fleeing as Rampage, before he was ultimately subdued by the Champions and taken into police custody.
(Champions I#6) - Observing
Rampage's defeat from a distance, Crawley appreciated that was Clarke
was still alive and that he had not had a chance to alter his power of
attorney status in regard to Clarke futuristics. He considered that if
he moved swiftly enough, he could sell the company and make a tidy fee
for himself, even after paying his creditors. He then strode away,
considering what a pleasant evening it had turned out to be.
