History:

(Stalkers#8/2 (fb) - BTS) - The fast food franchise Burger Queen's upper management was locked in a proxy battle and needed to score some points with shareholders. chubby_chicken_killer-hostages

(Stalkers#9/2 (fb) - BTS) - Burger Queen management executive Milo apparently came up with the idea to disrupt a few units of their primary competitor, Monolith Burgers, at lunch time. '

(Stalkers#8/2 (fb) - BTS / Stalkers#9/2 (fb) - BTS) - Milo's associate, Edwin (apparently with some degree of approval of their unidentified superior), however, took this idea and instead decided to discredit Monolith's mascot, Chubby Chicken.

Edwin (presumably) hired an unidentified man -- possibly either already employed by Monolith to wear the Chubby Chicken costume, greet customers, and pose for pictures; of perhaps someone who donned the Chubby Chicken costume for the job, perhaps by ambushing the real Monolith employee and taking the costume -- to wear the Chubby Chicken costume at one of the Monolith Burgers restaurants and shoot a number of children.

(Stalkers#8/2 (fb) - BTS) - Someone, likely Edwin or one of his agents, made an anonymous tip to WKX (or WKY)-something news, telling them that the Chubby Chicken was going to take hostages at a specific Monolith Burgers at noon.

Reporters Marty Field and Debbie rushed to the site, although they were running a little behind.

The Chubby Chicken mascot (either the regular employee or already the Burger Queen agent) posed for a picture with a young boy as a mother and two kids walked into the restaurant, with the older brother, David, repeatedly stating that Chubby Chicken was a butthead, while the younger brother, Ralphie, insisted otherwise.

(Stalkers#8/2) - At noon, the bogus Chubby Chicken noted that the reporters were supposed to have been there by now, and he considered that maybe they weren't going to show. Deciding that he was not going to wait, the man headed into the restaurant, feeling that if they were late, they could film the aftermath.

(Stalkers#8/2 (fb) - BTS) - The bogus Chubby Chicken fired his automatic weapon and the security guard, presumably slaying him. chubby_chicken_killer-kicked

(Stalkers#8/2 - BTS) - As Marty rushed into Monolith Burgers with his camera, the bogus Chubby Chicken shot him repeatedly.

Misunderstanding Marty's choking words to call an ambulance, Debbie vowed to get the footage for him.

(Stalkers#8/2) - Asking the customers if anyone else wanted to be a hero, the bogus Chubby Chicken advised them that they had picked the wrong burger joint, as when they came to Monolith, they get it his way. He then gathered the children, telling their parents to back away or die.

As the bogus Chubby Chicken prepared to execute the children, he said "Chubby's going to give Mommies and Daddies everywhere something to think about. Everybody close your eyes, and Chubby'll give you a big surprise.." chubby_chicken_bogus-unmasked

However, an amnesiac man going by John Doe -- who had just been turned down for a job at Monolith -- came back in and kicked the would-be killer in the back of the head.

The gun fired wildly into the air as John followed up with a punch that knocked the head/mask off of the bogus Chubby Chicken, followed by another punch and a pair of kicks.

Having dropped his gun and lost a foot/boot, and bleeding from his mouth and nose, the would-be killer pulled his knife and threatened John, "I'll teach you to mind your own business!"

Replying that he doubted the man had anything to teach him, John incapacitated the bogus Chubby Chicken with a throat punch.

Ralphie concluded, "You were right, Dave. Chubby Chicken's a butthead."

(Stalkers#8/2 - BTS) - When the store manager, Mitch, who had previously had him thrown out, thanked John and halfway apologized for his previous treatment, John shoved the chicken mask/head on Mitch's head and left.

Debbie reported that Marty Fields was in stable condition and that the John Doe who had subdued the bogus Chubby had disappeared without a trace.

(Stalkers#9/2) - Having idolized Chubby, the hefty Milo held a gun to Edwin's head and accused him and their manager of killing Chubby Chicken.

The manager called in the Stalkers to diffuse the situation, but eventually Edwin got the upper hand and shot Milo, who crashed through a window and fell to his death on the sidewalk below.

With stray gunfire having killed innocents, John Doe, who had since joined the Stalkers shot and possibly killed Edwin.

    Later in this series, there was apparently a nuclear explosion in Detroit, but we have seen places in the Marvel Universe recover from that...maybe some freaky magic (the restoration of Broxton in a recent issue of the Immortal Thor comes to mind), and/or the nuclear explosion was much more limited than it initially appeared. It is theoretically possible for the stories to have occurred in the pre-modern era at the time of publication.
    However, the need for a massive retcon in addition to it being a creator-owned series, I think are sufficiently compelling to make it not-616.
    Additionally, the cartoon storyline of Chubby Chicken would mirror an existing alternate reality, which is Earth-41902.

"El Pollo Loco" = The Crazy Chicken.

Chubby Chicken cartoon character

     On Earth-49024, Chubby Chicken was a cartoon character and the mascot of Monolith Burgers. He was apparently something of an inspiration to overweight people, like Milo.

     In the infinite Multiverse, there is a reality that mirrors the Chubby Chicken cartoon, Earth-49102.

     In one adventure, Chubby Chicken accompanied a trio of smaller chicks across a frozen lake, where his greater mass caused him to fall through the ice.

Swiftly frozen in a block of solid ice, Chubby was recovered by his friends, who used some sort of wagon to pull him back to a cabin. There, the ice thawed, and Chubby and his friends enjoyed some (presumably) hot chocolate.
