History:
(Lord Pumpkin#0 (fb) - BTS)
- Arielle grew up in a kingdom on the Godwheel that had fallen under
Lord Pumpkin's rule. Her father was a knight who had chosen to serve the
tyrant, and Arielle grew up hating him for his betrayal of their people.
Arielle became a knight herself, and in time gathered a force of fellow
knights who opposed Lord Pumpkin, forging them into a rebellion that
launched an attack on the royal castle.
(Lord Pumpkin#0)
- While some of her forces breached the castle courtyard and distracted
the main force of the castle's defenders, Arielle led a smaller squad of
knights on a sneak attack on the throne room, hoping to slay Lord
Pumpkin and his guards before enemy reinforcements could arrive. Unaware
Lord Pumpkin was actually trapped on Earth, the rebels stormed the
chamber and engaged the defenders within. During the melee, Arielle
suddenly recognized her father by his distinctive armor and attacked
him; recognizing her in turn by her voice, Arielle's father managed to
run her through with a spear, but Arielle defiantly pulled herself
further down the shaft so she could strike her hated sire with her
sword, delivering a fatal blow.
She collapsed just as her men finished
off the last of the guards, and her lieutenant rushed to her side to
remove her helmet. With blood dribbling from her lips, she urged them to
leave her and focus on slaying their target, but the lieutenant insisted
he would not leave her to be tortured and that there was still time,
then pulled the spear out. As the lieutenant cradled the dying Arielle
in his arms, she asked him if Lord Pumpkin was dead, and he admitted
they had been unable to locate the monster, bemoaning their whole
assault had been for naught. An unexpected interjection from a new
arrival startled Arielle's men, and they turned to see a strangely
garbed, visibly not-quite-human man now casually leaning against a wall.
Identifying himself as Mr. Mischief, he offered to heal Arielle and
deliver Lord Pumpkin at the price of her men sacrificing their own
souls. It only took a moment of hasty discussion between the knights
before they agreed; Arielle cried out for them to stop, but Mr. Mischief
disregarded her, sucking the knights' souls into a glowing sphere. He
offered it to the healed Arielle as she struggled to rise, but she
angrily ordered him to keep his black magic away from her and vowed to
kill him for what he had done. Feigning hurt feelings, Mr. Mischief
threw the souls into Arielle's sword, and warned her to not let go of it
as he walked through a portal which he'd just materialized. As he left
Arielle shouted after him that she would see him in Hell, and he glanced
back and ominously promised that she would indeed.
Grabbing her sword by the hilt, Arielle stumbled
across to her father's corpse and berated him for siding with Lord
Pumpkin and destroying her life. She swore she would find the fiend and
make him pay, and decried Mr. Mischief for not delivering on his promise
to deliver the tyrant to her. However her tirade was paused when she
heard faint voices nearby, prompting her to look more closely as her
blade, where to her horror she saw the faces of her men, their souls now
trapped inside. Feeling guilty at their fate, she shouted that they
should have let her die, then redirected her pain back at Lord Pumpkin,
blaming him for all they had lost. In a rage, she threw the sword away,
and as its blade impaled the wall a glowing mass of swirling energy
appeared below it. Suspecting this was her route to finding Lord Pumpkin
she tentatively reached forward, but found she could not pass through.
Seeing guards racing into the throne room, Arielle realized that to stay
was certain death, and suddenly recalling Mr. Mischief's instructions
she grasped the hilt and was immediately pulled through the portal and
sent flying through the cosmos.
Arielle emerged from a second portal near New Jersey on Earth, right
outside a carnival that Lord Pumpkin had taken over. A dwarf in a jester
costume greeted her with a spiel about the sights she could see inside,
and when he heard her proclaim that this had to be "the Pumpkin's"
domain he eagerly led her inside, proudly showing her the circus' other
performers, held captive on display with their bodies twisted into
inhuman forms and pleading for death. The dwarf then led the horrified
Arielle into the big top, where Lord Pumpkin and his new minions, more
performers transformed into grotesques, awaited. He warmly greeted her,
though promising he still intended to rip her heart out, but she
defiantly spat in his face. Angry, he struck her down, then unleashed
his creatures on her, but as they threatened to overwhelm her the souls
trapped in her blade exploded forth, taking on solid form to slay her
foes. Arielle struck at Lord Pumpkin, slicing his ringmaster jacket, so
he blasted her with flames from his mouth. Struggling back to her feet,
Arielle stumbled towards her foe using her sword like a crutch, swearing
that nothing would prevent her from destroying him, but Lord Pumpkin
derisively kicked her impromptu crutch, causing her to fall to her knees
before him. Cocky, Lord Pumpkin took a second to gloat, but this proved
a fatal error on his part, as Arielle snatched up her sword and threw it
into the monster's mouth, shattering his pepo skull. Arielle's foe began
to expire, but because she had let go of her sword another portal opened
up in the air; as her knights' souls were sucked back into the blade,
both the weapon and Arielle were forcibly pulled through the dimensional
rift and vanished.
