Powers/Abilities: The alien drug dealer was
capable of transforming between at least two forms, that of an
African-American man seemingly in his twenties and that of a gargantuan
monster.
In monster form, he demonstrated
superhuman strength enabling him to shatter concrete and uproot a
basketball post to wield as a club, as well as superhuman durability
enabling him to withstand an initial photonic energy blast from Captain
Marvel.
He appeared to be a capable
hand-to-hand combatant who moved quite speedily despite his large size.
He also possessed razor sharp teeth and claws.
History:
(Captain Marvel VI#1 (fb))
- On a neighborhood basketball court in Los Angeles, the alien drug
dealer, wearing human form and a sinister grin, cornered a young boy
named Tyler and waved two small ziplock bags of narcotics in his face,
apparently intent on making a transaction. Alerted by his cosmic
awareness, Captain Marvel (Genis-Vell) arrived on the scene and
accosted the drug dealer, slamming him against the fence.
It soon became apparent that there was more going on than met the eye, as the drug dealer revealed his monstrous form and attacked Genis. As Tyler fled the scene, Genis battled his now-monstrous opponent, evading the dealer's powerful blows and retaliating with photonic energy blasts. The dealer attempted to bludgeon Genis with an uprooted basketball post, but Genis dodged the attack and turned the weapon on his foe, ramming the pole into his midsection.
Just then, Genis received another flash of cosmic awareness, alerting him to a crisis which made him in need elsewhere. Genis revealed he had heretofore been withholding the full extent of his power in hopes of getting the opportunity to question the dealer about his activities and motives, but deciding he had no more time to waste, Genis unleashed the full power of his photonic energy blasts and incinerated the alien drug dealer before flying off to address the next crisis.

Comments: Created by Peter David and ChrisCross.
At the time this comic hit stands in September, 2002, Peter David hosted an electronic message forum titled Peter David Speaks on the America Online service, where he communicated with fans. Alas, the AOL forums have long since gone the way of the dodo, and all of those conversations are lost, save for those we can relate from memory. To that point, I recall remarking on the forum about the similarity in concept of this alien drug dealer to the Tzin, an alien race of drug dealers who debuted in Captain America Goes To War Against Drugs (1990), also written by Peter David. Peter confirmed that he had in fact intended this alien to be one of the Tzin, but series artist ChrisCross enjoyed coming up with innovative redesigns for such callbacks (also see his redesigns for Red Raven and Starfox), so the alien wound up looking quite different from the Tzin we previously saw. Given the Tzin have demonstrated some shapeshifting ability, it may be surmised this was simply an additional form we hadn't yet seen, and considering the threat the alien faced here, desperate times certainly called for it.
This profile was completed 09/12/2026, but its publication was delayed as it was intended for the Appendix 25th anniversary 's celebratory event to represent Peter David's stories and characters.
