In Eric and Julia Lewald's excellent reference book X-Men The Art and Making of The Animated Series, it was revealed that an additional psychic mutant named Yarnak had originally been planned to appear in the X-Men: The Animated Series storyline "Beyond Good and Evil." However, aside from her name and surviving model sheet, no further information about the character has surfaced. Yarnak ultimately did not appear in the finished episodes, which otherwise featured cameo appearances by numerous well-known psychics.
But who, or what, was Yarnak? Her model sheet suggests she may have been intended as a Romani-coded character, fitting the stereotypical visual archetype of a Romani fortune teller. Extensive research into the name across various forms of popular media has so far yielded no definitive matches, and her precise inspiration, if any, remains unrevealed.
The psychics shown as captured by Apocalypse were Gamesmaster, Gargoyle, "Jean Grey"/Madelyne Pryor, Karma, Mastermind, Mesmero, Moondragon, Oracle, Professor X, Psylocke, Revanche, Shadow King, Stryfe, Rachel Summers, Typhoid Mary, the White Queen, and two unidentified figures who appear to be a Guardian of the Universe from DC's Green Lantern and Gwildor from He-Man. As these two characters remain unidentified, they are not listed under affiliations here.
