Powers/Abilities: Venomsaurus Rex had abilities similar to most tyrannosaurus rex dinosaurs including a durable hide, extremely sharp teeth and very strong legs.
His bonding to a symbiote had also
granted him the ability to extend symbiotic tendrils to grasp victims
despite his shortened arms. His mutation stunted his inherent
intelligence, leaving him in a perpetual state of rage.

History:
(Edge of Spider-Verse
III#1) - During a battle between the heroic Spider-Rex and Kravertooth
the Hunter in which many bystanders were singing songs of Spider-Rex,
Eddie Brockiosaurus witnessed the grumpy Jingshan Jingshanosaurus
berating Mary Jane Watsaur for singing about the Spider-Rex "menace"
and he told Jingshan to leave the girl alone. Jingshan Jingshanosaurus
suggested Brockiosaurus not start arguing himself and warned
Brockiosaurus to watch his step around the nearby tar pits, as there
was dangerous stuff in the pits. Brockiosaurus scoffed at Jingshan's
warnings, commenting that a little splash or two couldn't hurt him but
he was soon knocked fully into the tar pits by Spider-Rex, who had been
tossed that direction by Kravertooth.
(Marvel Puzzle Quest video game add-on (fb) - BTS) - While stuck in the tar pit, Eddie Brockiosaurus merged with a symbiote living within the pit.
(Edge of Spider-Verse III#1)
- Horrified at what he had caused, Spider-Rex rushed to Eddie
Brockiosaurus' rescue but Brockiosaurus emerged from the tar pits on
his own, mutated into a form resembling a tyrannosaurus rex and craving
the taste of brains. The mutated Brockiosaurus hurled Spider-Rex away
by his own webbing then used symbiotic tendrils to snatch up nearby
dinosaurs in an attempt to devour their brains. Spider-Rex quickly
returned to rescue the smaller dinosaurs as Jingshan Jingshanosaurus
accused Spider-Rex of knocking Brockiosaurus into the tar pits and
transforming him into the newly-dubbed Venomsaurus Rex in the first
place. While Spider-Rex was subsequently getting Jingshan
Jingshanosaurus to safety, Venomsaurus Rex captured Mary Jane Watsaur
and dragged her to a nearby volcano.
Spider-Rex pursued to rescue Mary Jane and during the subsequent
battle, Venomsaurus Rex bit Spider-Rex and knocked him aside.
Re-focusing his attention on Mary Jane, Venomsaurus Rex dangled her
over the volcano and began to cover her in symbiotic tendrils. Mary
Jane attempted to reach her friend Eddie but when she was met only with
a loud roar, she admitted her attempt to reach her former friend and
bit one of Venomsaurus Rex's tendrils in half to escape his grasp.
Spider-Rex rescued the falling Mary Jane Watsaur then teamed up with
her to knock Venomsaurus Rex into the volcano.
(Marvel Puzzle Quest video game
add-on (fb) - BTS) - Moments later, both Spider-Rex and Venomsaurus Rex
were apparently transported from Earth-66 to Earth-13178, where that
world's Norman Osborn had caused a war between Earth's heroes and
Osborn's villainous cohorts empowered by the powerful Iso-8 isotope.
(Marvel Puzzle Quest
video game add-on) - While on Earth-13178, Venomsaurus Rex was briefly
empowered by Iso-8 and aided against the heroes assembled to battle
Osborn and his allies.
(Death of the Venomverse#5)
- Venomsaurus Rex was one of many symbiote hosts summoned to
Earth-64926 by Earth-1091's Virus to aid against the godlike Carnage
symbiote of Reality-616. Upon arrival, Venomsaurus Rex was almost
immediately killed by the Carnage symbiote.
Comments: Created by Karla Pacheco and Pere Perrez.
Near as I'm able to tell,
Venomsaurus Rex might have debuted first chronologically by publication
date as an add-on to the Marvel
Puzzle Quest video game with his (and Spider-Rex's) characters
first appearing in that video game circa late June 2023. However, he
technically first appeared in the Edge of Spider-Verse III#1 comic
book. You see, Edge of Spider-Verse III#1 might have been cover-dated
July, 2023 as the publication but it actually would have been on comic
store shelves a few weeks before that, almost certainly prior to his
release as an add-on in Marvel Puzzle
Quest. Therefore, the character was actually created by Karla
Pacheco and Pere Perrez, the creative team on the Edge of Spider-Verse
III#1 story despite the date listed in the comic's indicia being July
2023 and the video game add-on debuting in June 2023.
